Hi yes, I have prescription eye drops which I put in morning/evening, otherwise they feel scratchy and become red. I also get dry skin around my eyelids, I use eye wipes every day. I notice when I get tired that my vision get blurry. I hope you feel a little better soon and get some relief.

Hi. Yes! But I wonder if it's a result of the medication I take rather than the fibro. Amitryptaline and Gabapentin both seem to dry my mouth and eyes out. Also have had trouble focusing to read, particualry at night when I'm tired. So I wnet for an eye test and now wear glasses for reading. Fab.

Hi there

Yes I have been having some chronic eyes problems but after reading my Nortryptaline leaflet I believe that it is a result of my medication.

Take care

Morning I too have problems with blurry vision and itch eyes that wont clear properly. I use eye drops. Recently I have found my old glasses work very well when I am fresh (dont know when that is) and my new ones when I am tired the new have a prism in the lens which helps with focusing. Ithink it is not helped by my medication but I need that so there we go :D keep smiling guys

Dry eyes, mouth and throat are symptoms of fibro, although it may get even worse with medication, I get blocked secretion glands in my eyes, kinda like getting a spot on the skin but inside the eyelids, this causes my eyes to water a thick sticky substance when I'm tired which crusts up around the corners of my eyes, it's awful!

I also have problems with focusing my eyes once I'm even slightly tired (however I do have a very bad prescription for glasses, more than minus 10 in each eye, one eye has an astigmatism and the other a complex astigmatism, for those who understand that) the best thing you can do is see your dr and optician ask both about your specific symptoms and how they can help, not everything is right for everyone but you should be able to work out a plan that will benefit you, remember they are there for the sole reason of helping you!

Good luck and have a great weekend :)

Hi there ladysian do you have PVD? (Posterior Vitreous Detachment)

I only ask because I have the gooey crusty eyes too and that's what mine turned out to be. As you say we're all different but am curious to know if you have :)

:) xxxsianxxx :)

Hi there yes very dry and very itchy but not all the time. I was told to use fake tears to get moisture into my eyes. I also have PVD (Posterior Vitreous Detachment) which means the gel at the back of the eye pulls away............... it carries the risk of detaching the retina so when I have very dry itchy eyes I have to be careful if I rub them...... very irritating!!!

Hi there, yes i have exactly the same problem & the abrasion on my cornea re-opens whenever my eyes are very dry, so especially when i've had continuous lack of sleep, or had a few bouts of tears, etc.... When it re-opens it makes my eye stream continuously & cold/hot air or slightly bright lights or sunlight really hurt & make it stream even more. I have had this for quite a few years now, but my optician (in the practice where i worked for a long time) recommended using 'Lacrilube' every night & it is brilliant stuff & works extremely well for me, so i can now for the majority of the time keep it under control. Lacrilube is not the nicest thing to use, it is a rather gloopy eye gel that unfortunately does make your vision rather blurry for quite a while after putting it in, but it is well worth the inconvenience! I also continuously suffer with dry eyes & get quite gunky, slighty crusty & bleary eyes every morning, a bit like having excessive sleep in your eyes, but it goes like a string from the corner by my nose all the way along under the lower lid & i have to clean it out every morning, otherwise my vision will stay bleary. I would suggest you definately go for a check-up with your local optician, explain your health conditions & take along a list of any medications you are currently taking (even if over the counter), write yourself a little list of all the problems that you encounter with your eyes, so that you can tell the optician without forgetting anything. At least then you can rule out any other issues & the optician will be able to safely recommend which treatment will be best for you. Let us know how you get on.

Take care, love Georgina :-) xx

I have blurred vision, registered sight disabled, inflammation of the optic nerve

I have only had Fibro for about a year, but yes I do seem to feel as if my eyes are a lot dryer than they used to be. sometimes I take over the counter eye drops and I'm fine. Hope that helps.
