Pain is unbearable.

Since Friday my pain has suddenly got worse. There is nothing I can think of that could have caused this, I've not done much & I have stayed on top of my painkillers.

I don't know how much longer I can handle this pain in my neck, shoulders and back, it's unbearable. I have maxed my painkillers, can't get out of bed and I am seriously considering going to hospital soon, if it does not ease.

Does anyone know what the hospital would do? If anything?

My grandmother rang 111. It was usless apparently. Couldn't help her at all and were about as much use as someone speaking another language. She rang because of her husband (my grandfather, now in his ninties) was having breathing problems and couldn't lie down....he had a heart attack a few weeks ago.....she ended up giving up on them and rang 999 instead. An ambulance and first responder came out and he ended up in hospital with fluid on his lungs....again due to an infection caused by the catheter they put in him the last time he was in!! Not impressed. And that was on top of the useless gp where they live not picking up on the fact he'd had a heart attack at all, it wasn't until a week later that a consultant picked up on it at all. Damned if I'd put up with such tragic doctors and service. Glad they're so much better where I am.

Hi Charlie - I hope that you have managed to find some relief from the extensive pains. I tend to get most of the tighter and severe pains in the upper, mid(especially the lung area), lower back neck and shoulders. Sometime it is really hard to think about what could have caused the flare-up. It can be as simple as catching a draft from a door or window, or a sudden movement. When those muscles tighten.....omg, the pains can be so bad it is hard to move and brings tears to your eyes. I do hope that you do not have to work through this. When I get really bad, and I am unable to stretch it out myself, I end up going to my massage lady or osteopath.

Hi Charlie, in my humble opinion you should either contact your GP or get to hospital if this pain is still continuing. I have suffered like this and it was down to the whole thing being in a huge spasm, it is agony and you can hardly move. I have found the 111 service completely inept so 999 would be your better option. Even if the medics don't have to take you to hospital they can administer things to tide you over until you can get to your GP and if in their opinion you need hospital, they will get you there pronto.....

Hoping things improve really soon for you and sending you healing thoughts.

Foggy x
