Headaches

I am so fed up with this fibro, tons of symptoms going on. Today I have had a headache, but it feels more like pressure in the back of my head. Last year I had a MRI scan, and it showed some nerve damage. The neuro put it down to my age, I am 46.

Find GP and hospital consultants just dont get it....Sorry for the moan, but every part of me is in pain..

Oh Jan, I so sympathise, as I have been plagued by headaches and migraines for years. Might I suggest that you have a consultation with your GP again and state that unless he takes your symptoms seriously you will be seeking a second opinion. It might be a good idea to keep a diary of the headaches, so that you can take it to show him to see if there is a pattern. I know for myself the difference between a headache and a migraine and I am lucky to have a good GP and he has me on Maxalt (rizatriptin) for when I have a migraine, you just stick the wafer either under your tongue or in the side of your cheek and it very quickly takes the pain away, I still feel pretty grotty but at least the worst of the pain is dealt with. I really do suggest that you are firm with your doctor, often they think they can fob you off with anything, many people forget that doctors are there to do us a service, and not the gods that some seem to think they are, they make mistakes like the rest of us, so take heart Jan and be bold ! Good luck !

Thank you for your reply, I am going to see my GP next week. I think I am having a flare up, because I just dont have any energy. I have a low vitamin D, so I am on supplements for 2years. I just feel so sad because my life has totally changed, to how I thought it would be.

I think that's the same for most of us here Jan, I'm sorry too, life certainly has a very obscure sense of humour methinks.

Hi there. Migraine and headaches are awful - so debilitating. I've had them for 37 years with various treatments. At present I take a small amount of Imigran at the first sign. I also have small fibre neuropathy and fibro. I sometimes feel that I am just a ball of pain. Like you, this isn't how I thought my life would be after being very active for years. I don't think there is an answer to it all. I just keep going determined that it's not going to win. The nurse at the pain clinic said I didn't have to accept what i have but to adapt so at the moment that is what I'm trying to get my head round. I really hope things improve for you soon. Sending a big hug xx

Thank you, I have always been active and worked as nursery nurse. I will adapt too, its just going to take time.
