I have to update on this sujecdt and tell you all how great I have felt for the past few days. I started these a few days ago, I was feeling lousey, tierd, grumpy and pre menstral !!!!!
Good god what a change in 24 hrs, My mood has lifted, I have more energy, and I have slept slightly better.... But that fatigue lifted within 24hrs.... I am always sceptical but i have been amazed with this one!!!
I would recommend them now Ive tried them, For the last days I have been up at 6.30am, walked the dog, gone to work at 8am till 5pm, and come home walked dog again and made tea!!! Now your not telling me this is all in my head. I havent been able to do this much for years....
I am really glad you have found something you like
I am sure there are many people out there who would like to try it .. Please if you are taking any medication you MUST see your GP before taking this as it can have serious interactions with quite a few medications that I have seen people mention on here especially antidepressants like fluoxetine and Prozac... To name but a few...
.. this is very interesting as I have been "toying" with the idea of taking this 5htp myself as I am all in favour of natural stuff, because I have had so many severe reactions to man made meds, how much do you take a day and is it a one a day dose or is it more , I may have to check it is okay to use alongside amitryptiline, but I feel like really giving it a go...
Hi I don't think you can take it with Amitriptyline? But I'm off all prescription meds and have been for sometime due to them making me worse. so I've gone natural and found them to be better than anything ive been prescribed by a doctor. There 50mg and I take 1 at 8am and 1 at 9pm. I would check with your docs first, I put a list up on my recent post about interactions and there is a list as long as my arm!!! but if you ever decide to ditch the Amitriptyline I'd say go for it. xxx
went on livesrong.com and put in " is amitryptiline and 5-htp compatible?" and is is saying not to take them if you are on amitryptiline as in a way I suppose they counteract each other so in a way would be like overdosing...so I will not be able to safely try it...
That's true, I posted this other day, but I'm off all prescription meds now so it was safe for me to try, everyone should check first. I've copied what I put other day, its def not recommended to try with any other meds. x
Been looking more in to 5HTP Today and came across this, thought it would be useful
Concurrent drug use: 5 HTP should not be used if taking:
Sorry EJ There are lots of meds 5htp interacts with but especially antidepressants so I would strongly urge anyone wishing to try this to check with their GP first.
Yes - it's wise to check. Natural does not necessarily mean safe. St John's Wort for instance, is very effective and useful, but doesn't mix with other drugs.
If your GP gives you the go-ahead with 5HTP, then go for it - if it helps you, that's great, but always play safe with medications.
It so important to check with your GP dont just be casual and try things without checking the ramifications. All we ask is that you are careful mixing drugs and natural medicines. Check it out and if it is ok go for it your choice! gins
Yes I got 5htp checked by my gp. It wasn't interacting with anything
.
.but it made me feel really sick if I took it first thing and affected my sleep if I took it last thing.....I ended up giving up
I'm so pleased it is working for you though everso happy. It good to heat people making improvements x
Keep it safe from animals. I heard a dog got hold of a tablet and didn't survive xxx
I get on really well with HTTP. I'm not taking any pharma drugs. I do have breaks from it since I read that it could cause serotonin syndrome. Nobody seems sure about upper dose limits...needs more study. But two hundred an hour before bed with low dose melatonin works a treat for me. Yes, keeps my pain and depression down if I titrate throughout day too. l would love to feel confident to take all the time but I don't and just take at worst times.
