So I am new to this site, the reason I have come here is because I have nowhere else to go. I am 33 year old male and I live in North West London. Five years ago I snowboarding accident where hit a rock very hard directly on my left shoulder. On my return I had an x- ray which was clear of any brakes or fractures, I was in disbelief due to the pain the fall had caused but I carried on. Gradually over the five years my health has disintegrated where I can barely get out of bed on a daily basis. My pains are all over my body, my muscles are so tight that I am completely restricted around my neck shoulders(which feel like they are always burning) and back, I feel like I freeze up and lock in places where I cannot turn my head, my stomach is constantly swollen and all my muscles around my stomach feel completely mashed up and inflamed and out of place. Today, my whole left side is dead and I have been getting pins and needles. To say this has affected me is a massive understatement, I have ben looking into treatment in the uk and I cannot find anything, I have been sent to numerous doctors, therapists, sports doctors, received acupuncture. Do I have fibromalgyia as it does feel like my body has been taken over and at present I am losing miserably. My life revolved around sport and keeping fit and now I am fighting something that I do not what it is, it scares the hell out of me , does anyone have any information for me please, or have heard of the Marshall Protocol ? Happy reading Zac :)

Hi zac1

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am not a doctor so I cannot say that you have Fibro, although most members on this forum will relate to your every word! I have pasted below the link to our mother site FibroAction, and I hope that it can show some light on what you are going through:

fibroaction.org

Most members will tell you that it can take a long time to get a Fibro diagnosis, and doctors and consultants will check for anything and everything before they say Fibro! I have also pasted you a link that looks at Fibro tender point testing which is a good guide for getting a diagnosis.

webmd.com/fibromyalgia/guid...

I was wondering if your GP has given you any referrals to either Rheumatology or a Pain Management Clinic, as these could prove useful to you? I have also pasted you a link to the NHS Choices web pages on Fibro, as this also looks at treatment, diagnosis and an overview:

nhs.uk/conditions/fibromyal...

I want to genuinely welcome you to the forum and I really hope that you find it as useful as I do?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hello Zac Welcome to the site. We all live with fibro and have years of experience between us that we share with others. These are only our own experiences and as we all have different treatments and different symptoms to each other, we say always check with a doctor before trying anything new

Our Ken. has given you good advice on where to go for more info. I would like to say stop fighting it. If it is fibro trying to carry on as normal will only make the symptoms worse, Try resting and doing nothing and see if there is any improvement. We all have to learn our limits and try not to push beyond them. Something than none of us find easy.

It may take time for you to be diagnosed as there is no blood test ect. and all other possibilities have to be ruled out first,

Have a read of all the info and then come back to us if you have any more questions or to have moan a laugh at Foggys pic of the day or just for a chat.

See you around sue.

Hi there, I really feel for you. I too have similar symptoms. Yes I had a fall but this was years ago and yet I get constant symptoms just like it has just happened. I have to stretch all the time; I do yoga, Pilates, swimming; sometimes I feel like its getting a bit better and then I just do something normal like sit down in a group for an hour and a half and the whole thing comes back as bad as it ever was or worse.

I have no way of knowing if you or I have fibromyalgia. I have joined this forum as much of the stuff applies to me. I also have a long term history of depression and anxiety and many people just say it is part of that; but I don't agree.

For me the most frustrating thing has been having all these symptoms which are very long lasting (about 12 years) now, having had MRI's , seen pysio's, osteopath, chiropractor, acupuncture and so on and never been really told how it can get better. It is easy then for me to think there is something psychological about it or that it just can't be as bad as it is. I feel a bit silly trying to explain myself so now I just say to people that I had an accident and I have arthritis as a result as most people understand that.

I do hope that you find something can help you.If you are using the site genuinely for info I don't think it matters if you have the condition or not. I am still not sure if I have but much relates. No-one onthe outside seems to understand the level of distress from being constantly in pain and having to manage that all the time, and then when i do a slight thing different it is like literally back to square one.

People telling me its in my mind or part of my depression. NO IT ISN'T !!

Just wanted to show some support and understanding as it is very frustrating and life changing I know.
