Advice following failed FET

Hi all, Have followed many of your stories over the last couple of years but this is my first time posting!

To give a bit of history- I am 39, my husband and I have been TTC for just over 3 years. Have a diagnosis of unexplained infertility (I have one large fibroid but this isn't felt to be having an impact). We started (NHS funded) IVF in Feb 2024 and were very lucky to have 6 embryos following our first cycle. First fresh transfer ended in MMC at 9 weeks.

Had to abandon an FET in Jul 2024 due to fluid in lining but have since managed two medicated FETs- one in Oct 2024 and the latest this month.

Unfortunately have just found out this latest FET has failed and so am looking for any advice anyone might be able to give ahead of our next cycle- should there be any tests or investigations we should be requesting? (We're having NHS treatment but would be willing to pay if necessary for further tests). Is there any benefit to trying a natural or modified cycle (we've only done medicated so far)?

Would be really grateful for anyone's advice to give us the best chance next time round as really starting to struggle with this relentless journey! Thanks

I am so sorry to hear, sending a big hug. This is such a hard journey. Just wondering if you've PGTA tested your embryos, or are considering it? I know it's not for everyone. I'm the same age as you and two thirds of mine were aneuploid (no mosaics), with just one third euploid. All of the aneuploids were good grades, BB and better, so I would definitely have been transferring them were it not for the test. I know it's a personal decision, but for me, it felt better knowing that I was transferring only those that had a real chance, as I struggled big time with losses. Wishing you lots of luck with next steps 🩷

Thanks so much for your reply. Yes PGTA testing is something that we are now considering, just not sure yet how to go about this with us being with an NHS clinic but we'll ask them about this. Our three remaining embryos are all BBs too so would help us rule out those that don't have as good a chance. Thanks for your advice and good luck with your journey too!

hi if you look at my posts you can see ours too. On a 5 year plus journey here. I had a fibroid and was told it wouldn't affect anything, had the thing out and conceived naturally. And had a second opinion.

Thanks for replying. Thats really interesting- we've always been told my fibroid isnt an issue but will definitely be asking about this again at our next appointment!

Thank you! Will take a look

Hi, it is hard while you’re in the middle of it, but I’m sure you will get there. I had 4 failed transfers and my 5th worked. I remember thinking it was never going to work for me but it did in the end.

I had the EMA, Alice and ERA test and it turned out the timing of my transfer needed to be adjusted. But since you did get pregnant once that might not be the issue for you (unless they changed the length of time you were on progesterone for your subsequent transfers?). I would suggest PGTA testing of your embryos in your case. I only didn’t do this because I never had enough embryos so just transferred what I had x

Thanks so much for replying. No I've always had 5 days of progesterone (cyclogest) before all of my transfers (fresh and frozen). PGTA testing is definitely something we're now considering- just need to work out how to do this with our NHS clinic. Ive always suspected that its our embryo quality which is the issue (and probably led to the miscarriage) so testing is our next step i think. Thanks so much for the advice
