Ovitrelle trigger for FET no3 - should we have unprotected sex?

HI All,

I have PCOS (was very severe but not seems to have reversed with meds, diet and exercise!) and went through IVF. I had 2 failed transfers and am currently prepping for FET no3. As I appear no longer polycysic, my medical team suggested trying Letrozole to build uterine lining which worked a treat! One follicle was at 17mm yesterday and my lining was ay 7.9mm. They gave me the go ahead to trigger with Ovitrelle 250mg yesterday evening. Embryo transfer is booked for Thurs 13th Feb.

My question is, should we have unprotected sex to try and fertilise the egg that I am currently ovulating? I feel like its such a waste of a perfectly mature egg, and if the only risk that I could end up with twins, I am absolutely willing to take the chance!!

I did ask my clinic but they were very vague when I asked what the risks were. They just said 'we would recommend not trying to conceive naturally at this point'.

My only worry would be if the embryo transfer procedure might effect the potentially fertilised egg I am currently ovulating and risk the embryo being transferred.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Tara

Hi. So many people worry about wasting a good opportunity and go ahead. Just mention it again to your clinic for their guidance. Good luck. Diane

Have the sex, babe; and good luck :) <3

Hi Tara,

can’t say this didn’t cross my mind when I was in the same position. The only thing I ended thinking was… my partners sperm was randomly good/bad, I naturally conceived and miscarried and then I knew my transferring embryo was super good. I was worried the sperm would be bad, cause a bad embryo and affect the implanting one. So I didn’t go ahead and that embryo transfer was my lucky day. So satisfied I made the right choice. But I totally understand what you mean and if it hadn’t worked out that way I might be thinking what if. Definitely do what you think is right.
