Am currently 6weeks pregnant. Was spotting two weeks ago and was placed on early pregnancy scan which they saw a heartbeat and was placed on bed rest in the clinic for 6days. Throughout the bed rest bleeding continues,I did another scan last week Monday while bleeding heartbeat seen. When the bleeding increased I was asked to do reassurance scan last Wednesday but yet there was still heartbeat. Bleeding increased again yesterday with clot am so scared to do a scan right now. I have stopped the cyclogest but still bleeding. Anyone who has experience this before should pls share her success stories.

Hi. They must have checked for infection, but still drink plenty of water and avoid constipation. This can happen as tge placenta is developing, especially bear the cervix. Should you still be taking progesterone. Thimking of you. Diane

I wasn’t passing clots but I had spotting for the first 12 weeks with both of my successful pregnancies. I would encourage you to go for a scan as it’s the only way to see a real answer and not be in purgatory with the worry. I hope it all works out for you xxxx

Hello hun, sorry if this is a silly question but did the clinic tell you to stop taking your Progesterone? I was a bit surprised to read that (although of course you're 100% right to follow their advice). Wishing you all the very best of luck.

They didn't thou. I stopped on my own though but have started using again

I'm not medically trained but from what I've understood you were right to continue taking the Progesterone as prescribed (might even be worth asking the clinic about testing your levels and maybe increasing your dose).

hi please don’t stop the Cyclogest unless your clinic asks you to! I bled heavily with clots on and off from weeks 5-8 of my pregnancy in 2023. Turns out I had a hematoma, I was told to increase my cyclogest (as this can help an hematoma) and to pause my clexane until the bleeding stopped (as clexane can increase the bleeding). It was all successful in the end so please keep hope. Xx

Hi I’m sorry you are going through this. I had same in 2020. And my regret , as well as my Fertility specialist is that we stopped meds. It may be a subchorionic bleed and since heart beat is still there , I suggest you continue all meds and get a lot of rest and it may pass soon. I so regret stopping my anticoagulants. I hope this settles soon . Will be praying for you!

it does sound like a hematoma, I had that in my last pregnancy at 7 weeks, it stopped at 10 weeks, st the scan they should be able to tell you if it’s a hematoma. Keep positive and hope all is ok.

I'm sorry you are going through this, it must be so scary! It's reassuring that you have seen the heartbeat though!I assume they would have told you if they saw a hematoma on the scans? I had alot of bleeding on/off for the first 8 weeks of pregnancy because of a hematoma, it start from 3dp5dt. I had regularly scans and it had gone by 12 weeks.

I hope you get some answers and a positive outcome.

Hi I’m currently 8 weeks, Sunday the 12th I started spotting which got heavier with small clots so I went to the ER on Thursday, I was given an internal scan and an abdominal baby was there and there was a heartbeat I was given a prescription for Cyclogest and sent home I went and done a bit of shopping afterwards and needed the bathroom a big huge clot came out and I just burst out in tears thinking it was my baby, I called the hospital the next morning and explained I was told not to come in unless it’s heavy bleeding, the Saturday morning I woke up in so much pain with heavier bleeding so I went into the ER and again was given a scan and all was good with the baby I was just told to start taking the Cyclogest rectally instead. They never told me what’s causing the bleeding, hopefully you get some answers, it’s so scary x

Apparently bleeding occurs in around a third of pregnancies and it’s higher for ivf pregnancies. Spotting doesn’t always mean the worst but is so worrying. Glad to hear you’re taking your progesterone again, best to stick with all meds until advised otherwise. Best of luck for tomorrow 🤞
