cycle in December is it worth it?

Hello everyone

I would appreciate if you could share your thoughts and own experience on this.

I had our first consultation end of November aiming to start in December, I was given growth hormone injection and dhea supplements as pre medications to use a month prior to cycle which I started with my period.

now my next period is going to be on 24th of December which means all the tests and scans will be clashing with the festive period and likely my egg collection will be before my own doctor returns from annual leave so I will most likely have the egg collection with another doctor in the clinic.

I am quite nervous that all these bank holidays and festive period will affect the care and level of service I am going to receive and also having the procedure with another doctor which I don’t know much!

has anyone had a cycle in December in similar situation? Obviously I was in abit of dilemma whether to go ahead or not but as I’m 35 I didn’t nor want to waste anymore time as we are trying to do embryo banking and would be ideal to do the cycles while I’m 35 for better quality embryos.

would appreciate your experience and thoughts.

Hi I know it can be a bit daunting going ahead this time of year when things are busy for everyone and there may be less clinical staff at your clinic. However they wouldn't go ahead if they didn't have enough staff. Just in terms of having another doctor for the procedure this is something I really wouldn't worry about. From my experience it is quite normal not to always have your own doctor for egg collections and embryo transfers etc. Even if they were at work sometimes the timings don't work and clinics assign patients to different doctors. So for me this should not be a deal breaker. Has to be your decision though x

Thank you so much for your response, I have decided to go ahead because I believe one month is still on month in my 35th so that wasn’t a valid reason to hold be back specially that I had already started on growth hormone injections.

It just felt alittle messy when I spoke with them regarding my scan and blood test when i start my period but it’s reassuring to hear people’s experience.

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear this - I've specifically asked to keep mine until the New Year for similar reasons so have held off. I'm sure you'll be fine as they wouldn't book you in if they don't have the resources to support? Good on you for doing over Xmas too!

Do you mind me asking what dose of DHEA your clinic recommended? Xx

yes I just wanted to get it out of the way.

They have recommended 25mg twice day to take until my next period.

I haven’t tested my level though but I’m guessing because it’s short term use it wouldn’t matter much

How much has your clinic recommended ?

Hope this helps
