periods not right after miscarriage

Hi,

I’m currently waiting for my 5th embryo transfer. Our first transfer was successful for 8 weeks until I miscarried. My period has not been right since then. Im either 4 days early or 3/4 days late. Im bleeding for roughly 3/4 days which is normal for me.

i cant helo but feel that the miscarriage has causes some scaring on my womb as periods are never on time and my 3 transfer after the loss havent worked.

can someone please reassure me that transfers can work even with irregular periods!!

Thanks you

I am so sorry for your loss. Just to say, after every miscarriage my cycles always went wonky, and then settled into a new 'normal'. It was frustrating but it won't impact your transfers, the whole point of IVF is they take over and manage your cycle artificially. You might get frustrated that you can't start on day 1 because day 1 actually comes on day 5, but generally you should be fine. Heaps of luck for your next round x

Thank you for this 🤍 i needed to read someone else telling me that. I keep reminding myself of the doctor saying “whats most important is that you bleed”. So sorry for your losses. Were our own worst enemies sometimes! X

so sorry to hear of your loss and completely understand concern over period changes post miscarriage. I’ve been there. Just to say if you’re worried about any scaring -then you could always request a 3D SIS from your clinic before a transfer. Not a pleasant test but if you’re truly concerned could put your mind at ease. Not sure of your history but if you had a D&C scaring is possible even if you have a period-v unlikely though -and very very unlikely if you had a natural miscarriage without intervention. I did have scaring -but it was fixed and I had my daughter after too so even if worst happened successful pregnancies possible. Shout if you have any questions X

Sorry for your loss. It can take a few months for your periods to go back to normal after a miscarriage. For me it always takes about 4 months before everything goes back to normal. The only effect it will have on your transfers is the start date may not be when you expect. X

Sorry to hear about your loss! Someone else has mentioned the 3D SIS scan. I had one recently after my miscarriage to check for scarring. If you’ve not had one this would be a way to rule this out and hopefully put your mind at ease. Are your embryos PGTA tested? X
