Hello lovely,

First of all, I am so so sorry for your loss 😢😢😢 it is so heartbreaking, especially after the rollercoaster of infertility and IVF.

I suffer from infertility and recurrent miscarriages (we started actively trying for a baby in 2017), so I completely understand your pain. I don't know if this will help, but I can share my experience with you and tell you what we did. Every time we had a miscarriage or a cycle failed, we tried to do something different and had more tests done. I am not sure what is the cause of your infertility, as some conditions can also affect implantation and cause miscarriages sometimes? Do you mind me asking? Also, do you mind me asking how old you are and how many transfers you have had?

I am sorry if you think I am being intrusive asking so many questions, but my suggestions would depend on the above.

I suffer from PCOS, severe endometriosis, adenomyosis, autoimmune issues and thrombophilia and I finally managed to have success (at least so far, fingers crossed!!) in my last transfer with not such a good quality embryo, after trying lots of different things. According to my consultant, the quality of the embryo is as important as her/his "house for 9 months" and everything else.

This journey is so difficult but please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or want to chat. I would be so happy to help you as much as I can. I have been there and totally understand how you feel and what you are going through.

Take care xx

Thanks for replying .. I’m delighted to hear you have been successfully.. I am 38 .. but I have been trying since I was 35 .. I had have 6 months of clomid , 3 iui, one chemical pregnancy, my first Ivf cycles I had 3 embryos frozen as I could not have a fresh transfer due to ovarian stimulation.. none of my embryos made the thaw .. so nothing to transfer .. 2 Nd round i transfers 2 which ended in the miscarriage.. so I might get some more testing done .. can I ask what test you have had done ?

Hello lovely,

I am more or less your age, will turn 38 soon and have been trying since I was 33. I am so sorry to hear about your hard journey. I had lots and lots of tests done and not all done at the same time. As I said in my previous message, every time we tried something different, but here are some of the tests we did:

-When we were first referred to the NHS fertility consultant, I had lots of blood tests to check my hormones (i.e.: LH, FSH, testosterone and AMH) and also my thyroid. I was diagnosed with PCOS and, although my thyroid was OK at the time, I have since then been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism/Graves' disease.

-Seminogram (we didn't do DNA fragmentation tests but that would have been our next step) My husband has teratozoospermia.

-Hysterosalpingography to see if my fallopian tubes were blocked.

-3D Scan to check my uterus and a surgical hysteroscopy afterwards to correct my T-Shaped uterus.

-ERA/EMMA/ALICE tests

-Thrombophilia/ Blood clotting screening

-Autoimmune tests

-MRI

-Laparoscopy (and excision for endometriosis surgery)

-We also did ICSI and PGD testing

As I said, we tried different things each time. We also changed our diet, took vitamins and I also did acupuncture. For our last (successful!) transfer, I was prescribed Hydroxychloroquine, steroids, heparin and aspirin.

I am not sure if it helps, but I felt better trying something different each time.

Good luck with everything and I am here if you need me :-)

I have seen Daisy's comment below and I agree with her that if you are planning to do more egg collections, I would probably do it now too, but a 3BB is still a very good quality embryo, so please don't lose hope! X

Hey that’s a lot of testing ,we have had the dna frag . Checked tubes , going to check bloods for clotting , maybe have the Alice or Emma test and immune bloods .. it will all depend on the results of the fetus .. but thanks you have given some ideas

Yes, I forgot to say that one of the reasons we decided to do more tests is because our babies were chromosomally normal. We also lost a baby boy at nearly 18 weeks and no real cause was found (some possible reasons, but nothing conclusive). I was told miscarriages are more common if there are chromosome abnormalities, which wasn't our case. I wish you all the best of luck in this very tough journey. Please feel to ask me any questions. Sending lots of baby dust your way! x

Hello! Sorry to hijavk your thread eternal warrior but I agree with the tests you had suggested.

We both are 34 and we have been actively trying for two years before we found success. I have done most of the tests that eternalwarrior had suggested, some had worked for me and other have not. I’m each transfer, we made sure we did something different and we finally got pregnant after our 6th transfer. We have done many things different. I was on anti biotic and pro biotic (prior to transfer), aspirin, clexane, prednisolone, along with progesterone. My husband was on antibiotics for a month due to DNA fragmentation. Please PM if you would like to have more details on what we have done for our cycles

Just a small note, we got pregnant with the lowest grade embryo of the bunch. The rest of the ABs and AAs were abnormal as per the genetic testing we have done.

Congratulations MamaWeez that you were successful in the end 🥰I was also on antibiotics and probiotics before my last successful transfer (after we got my EMMA and ALICE results). I like you, also got pregnant, with not such a good quality embryo. I had 4 top quality 5 day embryos (AA) that didn't work. 3 of those were aneuploid and the other one was a BFN. We were so upset! My consultant said that anything that is good enough to freeze can result in pregnancy -otherwise they wouldn't freeze them!

Congratulations to you too eternalwarrior! I’m so happy you were success after this long and tough journey. IVF is no walk in the park. It affects us mentally and physically. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

I am so sorry for your loss. Its so unfair.

I think it probably depends on how many more rounds you have left in you if you see what I mean. If you think you will definitely do more rounds then I would probably do another one next, so you are getting your eggs collected as young as you can if you see what I mean. I don't mean to panic you about age and you are still a spring chicken in IVF terms!! But I just figure if you are going to do more egg collections you might as well do them now to optimise your chances.

Although I wouldn't write your embryos off either. I have friends and siblings who have had 6 or more transfers of top quality embryos and then got pregnant on their last worst quality ones. The fact of the matter is the grading is only a snapshot at a moment in time and not reflective of what happened 5 mins after the grading. 3BB is still a very good quality embryo (better than I have ever managed!!)

Heaps of luck whatever you decide x

Thank you , I’m going to wait till I get the results back as I have sent the fetus away for testing.. so I hope to get the results soon ..

Hey sorry to hear of your losses. Just wanted to say I had a miscarriage on my 2nd transfer and then we transferred a 3bb on my 3rd transfer currently 10 weeks pregnant. So don't write it off and my clinic didn't class a 3bb as poor quality they said it was good as they only freeze anything worthwhile freezing xx

Hey congratulations on your pregnancy, you have given me hope .. I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage it’s so difficult . I think I’ll take so time out to clear my head but not to much time as like the other ladies suggested the sooner I do another egg collection the better .. best of luck with the pregnancy

As you’re on your last precious embryo I would suggest asking for the recurrent miscarriage screen as my clinic did it for me after 2 miscarriages. Although the results all came back normal we were about to start our third round and probably last for a while so we threw everything at it. See my posts as it’s all in there but basically we transferred two embryos (one was an A grade and the other a C, the first time transferring a C), I had a natural cycle FET but used progesterone as an additional support, I had an endo scratch prior and when I got a positive pregnancy test I started taking aspirin and fragmin injections daily to keep the blood flow to the uterus good! Both stuck and I’m in my third trimester with twins, so the lower graded embryo has proved himself to be just as strong as his brother as they’re both measuring the same pretty much and have had no issues so far!

So this last embryo of yours has absolutely all the potential in the world, I just think so you know you have tried absolutely everything have a chat with your consultant to see if there is anything else you can test or try with this cycle!

Good luck! This was our third and three 3 trying also xx

Congratulations, thanks for the support and advice , I guess I shouldn’t lose hope on my last little embryo. It’s just hard to deal with more disappointment.. but I guess we have to start positive. 😀 best of luck with your pregnancy ❤️
