Clomid, Ovulation tests & Day 21 test. Advice needed 🥺

So I thought I had a positive ovulation test but turns out a flashing smiley just means increased estrogen, and that ovulation should be due to happen soon (Apparently 🤷‍♀️). I have my day 21 progesterone test on Friday from my clomid cycle this month, and I'm still getting the flashing smiley face on the clearblue test. I'm assuming this means the test on Friday will show no ovulation? I'm just panicking now because I'm only allowed two rounds of clomid if it's unsuccesful (this is my 2nd), and I've got a long way to go until I'm eligible for IVF due to my BMI. Do I have the right to ask for the 'day 21' test to be repeated in case ovulation still does happen? As I am having a few cramps which could be ovulation cramps maybe? I don't usually get any periods but after my first round of clomid, I had a 39 day cycle but I think the test is done on the date of an average 28 day cycle. Any help/advice would be really appreciated as I've lost all positivity now and my clinic hasn't really been much help.

Hi. I would test every other day after day 28 until you are sure either way. Good luck. Diane

Hello, I used clear blue ovulation test. I had for four days flashing smile face on fifth day I had solid face and then I called to clinic to let them know. If you did your test on the morning do also afternoon becuase you can have sold face for instance from afternoon and you don't want to miss the days . Will be ok. Solid face will appear.

Ah thank you. I think I've just googled it so many times now about that stupid flashing smiley 😂 and some people have had experiences of not getting the solid face, so the panic is just setting in. It's also knowing I've got the day 21 test tomorrow and if I haven't ovulated according to that then I can't have anymore clomid rounds. Infertility is not fun at all 😭 thank you for replying x

Would you try mira ovulation tracker it shows a 7 day fertility window and confirms ovulation. Was a game changer for us. Shows all your hormones and theres a Facebook group where people comment on your hormone chart to help you.

I wouldn't be against trying it, it's just the cost that puts me off as I don't ovulate naturally and if I don't get any more rounds of clomid then there's no chance of ovulating 😟

Hey i thought that but 300 to set up mira was a lot cheaper for us than 7k to do a round of ivf

I thought it just helped track your cycles though? I don't have any cycles (other than from having clomid), so I'm unsure how it would help in my situation. unless I'm misunderstanding how it works?

It just helped me with the lh surge to see when and if i ovulated which was so important to time intercourse to conceive

Hi lovely,

I would call your clinic in the morning and reschedule your test until later next week. If you haven’t gotten a solid smiley on the CB tests then you haven’t had your lh surge/ovulated yet, and doing the day 21 tests will be pointless. Honestly, I hate that they’re even called ‘day 21’ tests. They should really be called ‘7 days post-ovulation’ tests. I cringe to think about how many women get weird results as a result of taking the tests at the wrong point in their cycle. 😞

Also, from what you describe it sounds like you may have PCOS. Has anyone recommended you supplements to help? If not, I really recommend Inofolic AlphaPlus. It can help jumpstart natural ovulation and also help with weight gain and some of the other symptoms of PCOS. It’s fine to take while undergoing fertility treatments so I would start it asap as it can take 3 months to start working.

Good luck xx

Thank you. I hate the day 21 thing too but I queried it with the hospital and they weren't really forthcoming in changing it. I was originally told its likely I have PCOS but I swapped hospitals and they don't think I do have it as all my hormone levels were normal. They still gave me metformin to try, and I started taking myo inositol. I think I might go for tomorrow's test just incase but ask for another if I ever get this solid smiley 🥺😫 thank you for your advice, I hope your journey is going well x

Ah good, I’m glad they’ve recommended you a few things. The Inofolic AlphaPlus is mostly myoinositol but it has a few additional ingredients that make it more effective than myoinositol alone. And even if you don’t have pcos, inositol can help with egg quality so it’s a good thing to take regardless. Hope you get that solid smiley soon! xx
