Day 21 progestrone test... im confused

Hi ladies

I need some help. If been asked to do a day 21 progesterone level as one of my pre IVF bloods. I ovulate on day 19 or 20 of my 31 day cycle. Do i so my bloods 7 days after ovulation or on day 24?

I believe it's 7 days after ovulation I'm doing one this Friday and that's 7 days after I think you can go over a day. My gp said if they can't get me In fri then tell them make sure sat. Xx

That's what in thought. I'm having a nightmare this cycle. I usually ovulate on day 19 of my cycle but this month I dintvthink on have ovulated yet... I know when I'm ovulatimg because I normally get awful pain but not this month. Ovulation kits have been negative and I cant conceive naturally so defo not pregnant. Don't know what my body is doing.

AllWeNeedIsluv my cycle is normally 21 days do you think i should get my bloods done on saturday (day 24) regardless?

Are they doing the test a couple times? I'm having mine this month and next month. I know what you mean about knowing when you do I get that pain too. I don't know if you should get it done on sat. Maybe ring them up and explain your situation maybe they'll do you this and next month just to compare. Then hopefully you'll ovulate next month xx

AllWeNeedIsluv god I hate this. It's constantly one thing after another. I had a test done last month but think I may have done it too late.... was 8 days after I ovulated but only 5 days before AF came. My level as were 22.5.

8 days isn't too late hun that is fine. I don't know anything about the levels that will be my question when I get results. Let them know you haven't ovulated or ask them should you just do the test on what would, have been the 7 th day that way they'll be able to confirm it. Might help them get an idea for your treatment xx

A progesterone over 30 confirms ovulation 100%. However the Dr said my results weren't too bad ,probably just mistimed. This is the first month ever that I have not felt ovulation pain.

OK have you been on any meds or anything that may have interfered with ovulation xx

No none at all. I had AF last month after my ectopic and all was fine. So this has stimmpes me. Im getting worried.

Iv just been doing some reading and it says if your cycle is not the average cycle mines is bang on 28 days. If your cycle is for instance 35 get tested on day 28 so that's 7 days before af. It's confusing I thought it was supposed to be 7 days after ovulation. 😕Xx

Thats where I am getti g confused because for me 7 days before AF will not be the same as 7 days after ovulation so which one do i do??

Omg it's really quite confusing isn't it? Can you ring them and ask. If you don't mind me asking Was your tube saved in your ectopic? Xx

Iv tried ringing but no answer. If just done an ovulation test and it looks like the line is almost as dark as the control line so will do another test this evening and probably get my bloods done next Monday.

Unfortunately my tube had ruptured and wasn't saved. And I had my other tube removed 10 years ago due to adhesions from an appendectomy.

Awww so sorry hun that's awful.😕big hugs. I asked because maybe that's why you, haven't felt it because tubes not there. I don't know how it works just trying to come up with answers for you not feeling ovulation. Test sounds positive so hopefully you can get it done then. Bloody confusing it is. Xx

I know it so do fusing. I have just remembered whenibsaw my fertility Dr she said to don the progesterone test 7 days after ovulation so I'm Going to stick with that otherwise in will drive myself crazy.

Yes best thing to do that way you've done what they asked for. Oh gosh Google I'd enough to drive you mad sometimes.

I assume they will do all the bloods etc for you?

Is it the same screening as IVF?

I'm not sure tbh.

I just know docs are running tests before my appt. I'll find out more once I have it. I'm quite excited iv avoided this for years now I'm ready for it xx

It's a process but definatly a sense of relief when you start getting answers.

As a women you have so many question regarding what is Going on with your body.

I know it drives me mad sometimes. I can deal with pain and complications if I know what it is. Once I have something new I can't handle it drives me mad. I said to docs I think it's just low progesterone do I really need to go, he said yes that'll do other tests and want to treat things that gp can't. Xx

I found with this test that Dr's don't listen to you about when you ovulate (cause we know our own bodies) and ask you to go on day 21 of your cycle hence the name of the test. Id say it's up to you, if you know you ovulate later go later. Or you go day 21 and see what results you get and ask for a subsequent test. I notice you say you don't think you have ovulated yet- remember it doesn't happen 12 months of the year for us anyway so maybe this month you haven't. It's a complicated process I remember going through all this myself. I thought I knew when I ovulated after years of monitoring and trying and truth be told, when I fell pregnant and looked at my chart I wouldn't have guessed the dates it showed. Good luck x

Thank you. I finally got a positive ovulation test yesterday so I will do my test next week. There is so much contradicting info out there.

I did but it came back as 18.4 and I can feel my period coming. I think the timing was off again because I got positive ovulation tests. How are you?

Oh gosh idk what a headache. I rung my docs for results and they said it's normal I Asked for numbers the receptionist wouldn't give them. Going to try again later 💗🤗😘
