Hi everyone, I had my first IVF cycle earlier this year. Unfortunately this cycle had to be cancelled after egg retrieval due to discovery of a polyp. I had embryos frozen and surgery to remove the polyp. I am due to start a frozen cycle with medication starting in less than 2 weeks, had a scan that showed polyp had gone and was healing well. The medication I am going to be taking is progynova, I am scared that taking medication again could make the polyp come back. Does anyone have any experience of this situation and able to offer advice? The thought of another cycle being cancelled and surgery again is very difficult. Thank you x

Progynova after polyp??
I’m sorry you’ve had these complications. I can’t advise really as not been through this but wondered if you had asked the clinic and also whether a natural or modified natural FET may be preferable for you if you’re worried about taking oestrogen?
Hi, the same thing happened to me but we went ahead with a fresh transfer when a polyp was suspected. The transfer failed and this month I’m having the polyp removed.
My clinic have recommended a modified natural cycle with progesterone only as it is the estrogen that may have caused the polyp to form and they want to avoid this happening again. For reference I have regular cycles and believe I am ovulating ok. I would suggest raising your concern to your clinic. Good luck x
Hi LizzieΤ91,
I'm sorry to hear that you had to cancel your transfer after egg retrieval. I know how difficult it can be, as I went through the same thing. I am currently in the process of preparing for a frozen embryo transfer after having a polyp removed, and I have also been prescribed Progynova. Like you, I am very concerned. Have you spoken to your clinic about your concerns? What did they say? I am planning to contact them today to discuss my concerns as well.
I’m sorry you have been through this too! I spoke to my clinic last week and they said they cannot give a 100% guarantee that it won’t come back but in their experience, most of the women in this position have been fine with the progynova so I have been encouraged to stay positive. My progynova will begin this week so just keeping everything crossed it goes ok. Wishing you all the luck for your cycle too!
