DHEA Supplements

At the start of August my clinic advised me to start DHEA 25mg 3 times a day.

Testosterone was 0.4nmol. I've taken it for a month now and got my bloods tested at GP and they're concerned because it's shot up to 2.8nmol and is now too high.

I'm going to contact my clinic tomorrow to reduce dose but I'm concerned that my consultant told me "not to bother" having my bloods done again to check it.

Listen to your gut ladies, we are putting a lot of trust and money into these clinics. My eggs would end up fried if I continued with their advice.

I had the same thing happen. Clinic said don’t bother monitoring but I had high levels on that dose. I was reduced then to 25mg daily. But it definitely affected my egg quality that cycle. I hope you have a better response and can get advice quickly on next steps

Hiya - effected your egg quality in a good or bad way? Yes I'm going to message them this morning and see what they say.

Sadly bad. We had previous to this had low numbers but excellent quality and 100% fertilisation and blastocyst rate. That time we had one arrest on day 3 and one that started to form blast but then perished day 6. Only one blastocyst we could use and it was middling rather than top quality.

I might be persuaded to try again at a low dose for shorter time but I’m really nervous about DHEA now. Gave me terrible acne and flared me endo too!

Best of luck xx

I'm not due to have any treatment until November but actually thinking of pushing it back to January as I'm a bit disappointed in the clinical advice I've been getting. My skin got pimples - face and back. My moods have been horrendous too. I think if my levels weren't elevated I would still have decreased it due to the side effects.

I think the clinics should recommend to start on lower doses than higher.

Absolutely. There should be monitoring done by the clinic if they advise it as well I think. The hands off approach with it is really bad! Sorry this has happened. I hope you get to do your cycle soon x
