I was devastated yesterday when I found out through my blood test that my FSH levels are too high (19.8) to do my ivf round. I had a medicated cycle previously that only resulted in one egg (unfortunately this egg turned into a blastocyst but didn’t stay when implanted) this 2nd round was due to be a natural cycle but they are unable to proceed this month due to the high fsh level and have said to try again next month so we can see if it was a freak month or if this is normal for me.
Has anyone had this and what can I do to help lower the level?? They have said I can’t really do anything (supplements or medication) but surely there must be something?? I’m 43 so really worried my body is going to early menopause and this is why my levels are high 😢

Hi Sunrise - am sorry to hear this and fully sympathise. I'm 44 and now always have spotting before my period. I've had fluctuating Day 3 of cycle FSH (18.6 in 2022, 10.6 in March this year) and the last 3 blood tests before starting (mostly abandoned) cycles, ranging from 12.6, 16.9 and 1.1. I've had uterine scans before each FSH reading/cycle and they show that when my FSH is higher I've an unruly follicle (or two) that have decided to get going without the rest of them - my first scan showed 2x10mm leading to a 12.6 and my second scan I had a 12mm leading to the 16.9. So did they scan you at the same time to see whether anything else going on? My third cycle (ongoing) they put me on a long protocol to make sure my body wasn't doing anything - that's when I got a reading of 1.1. So maybe this would be an option for you if you've got follicles out of sync? I understand you can lower your FSH with diet (Mediterranean, plant fats/protein, etc) and mild exercise but that you might benefit from acupressure/ acupuncture as well? Xx
Can you ask about dhea and coq 10 ubiquinol i dont know my exact fsh but i know these brought it down to qualify for nhs ivf. You may need bloods for dhea s levels and testosterone first. Nhs consultant told me to do eurovitals dhea and life extension coq10 has to be ubiquinol i had 6 of them a day so 600mg
My clinic and a doctor at LWC in Brighton who I met with yday told me to just go for it and take DHEA 75mg without testing as I'm 43 and AMH 2.2 hence just take and at least for 3 months. The DHEA gives me a libido and I haven't noticed any bad side effects.Ubiquinol 600mg per day, also for at least 3 months.
My first round ended in 3 abnormal day 6 blasts, all good grades. I won't be PGTA testing again and am moving away from my Spanish clinic and their numerous v stressful admin errors.
