Hi ladies, I am supposed to be having my egg collection on Friday. Doing my trigger tonight. I had 19 follicles today, and I just wondered if anyone had a high number of follicles and didn’t get OHSS? They said if more than 20 eggs are collected I won’t be able to have a fresh transfer due to the risks. But I just wondered about anyone elses experiences. I currently feel fine, although I have been really tired today but I think that’s because I’ve been so busy.
Thank you anyone for your reply 💞

Tbh I know the waiting is a pain if you can’t have it but I felt like my frozen transfers were a breeze! Less scans and just felt easier on the body, so if it can’t go ahead, take it as it’s meant to be and your body will take a nice rest ready to rock on xxx
Hi lovely, I had over 40 follicles on one of my ovaries, it was pretty uncomfortable but I didn’t develop OHSS. I made sure I ate loads of protein and drank electrolytes around egg collection. Following egg collection, I recovered quite quickly! Fingers crossed you’ll be ok ☺️ we also did a freeze-all and the two months without meds was just what my body needed. Sending love!
Hi lovely, I had 27 follicles during tracking, at egg collection we had 23 mature eggs so was told at that point would have to freeze any embryos due to ohss risk. Was uncomfortable for a few days but nothing more than that, my clinic did tell me to drink lots of water and eat a high protein diet as that is suppose to help minimise the risk! I was gutted we couldn’t for ahead with fresh transfer at the time, but soon came round to the fact that it was for the best just in case!
I had 36 eggs collected in a freeze all cycle because of pgt testing and because my clinic doesn’t recommend fresh transfers in general. It was quite uncomfortable after for a few days but I didn’t develop ohss. I’ve read you have a higher chance but you can get it even with a low count.
The problem is not just thd ohss after egg collection but if you fall pregnant, you can get late onset of ohss due to additional pregnancy hormones. I was over the moon to be pregnant in the end but had to stay in hospital for says, was uncomfortable and my bloods were way more serious than I realised at the time. My ovaries were huge and I looked 6 months pregnant from the start. So if they say freeze all, trust them. If not, eat protein and monitor how you feel and any swelling around the abdomen. You've got this! Good luck with your collection!
Hi, I have pcos and had lots of follicles with both egg collections so I couldn't have fresh transfers. I was given injections after the collection for 5 days to calm things down. Think it was fyramadel. I never got ohss thankfully. Currently 9 weeks pregnant with a frozen and tested embryo.
Hi! I had 32 follicles collected and did develop it on day 5 after egg collection. The advice I got from my clinic to help avoid and then manage it was a protein-rich diet, including a few protein shakes/protein yoghurts a day. Fingers crossed you don't get it.
Hi Booda, It all depends. I had an egg collection the end of May and I had 9 eggs and I got OHSS and they had to cancel my fresh transfer the day I was due to do it. I felt fine up until the day before. They will monitor you closely, but unless you visabally have fluid built up or concerns for OHSS, you should be fine to go ahead!
Hi I had 27 mature eggs collected and no OHSS. In my last scan I had about 48 follicles and estrogen blood levels were super high. They were very concerned about me getting OHSS, so altered my trigger shot. After my egg collection, they put me on IV fluids and sent me home with cabergoline tablets for 8-10 days. Start drinking lots of electrolytes from the time you take your trigger. It worked wonders for me! Good luck! Xx
I had over 20 follicles and developed OHSS. I went ahead with the transfer, but should have waited for my body to recover and gone with a frozen cycle. I ended up in hospital after the transfer which is when they diagnosed me. I think because of being 40, they assumed I couldn't be over stimulated!! Good luck with yours whatever you go with xx
I had 18 eggs collected and we went ahead with a fresh transfer as my clinics cut off is 25 end. Unfortunately, I developed ohss and ended up really sick in hospital despite drinking tons of water and lot's of protein. However, I was told by my clinicians that the only reason I developed it was because I got pregnant that round. I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant. So while it was a super painful experience at least something good came out of it. If you end up having to switch to a frozen transfer though, it is a lot kinder on your body. I'm keeping everything crossed for you and wishing you lot's of baby dust xx
