Egg collection today

So, we had our EC first thing and I was very pleasantly surprised 😮 Friday's scan showed two good sized lead follicles, which were basically our only hope. The doctor mentioned I had two small follicles measuring 10 each but they didn't think these would grow enough. So I'd prepared my husband for 1 or 2 eggs, if we were lucky. Amazingly, we got FIVE 🎉🥰! I was a bit groggy so didn't ask enough but I guess both of the baby follicles caught up and one of the big ones must have had two eggs. No idea what tomorrow's fertilisation call will bring (I'm sure the 5 eggs won't all be mature and this is our first time with ICSI on my husband's sperm...) but for today I'm just feeling so blessed and fortunate 🙌✨ 💜

Thank you! It's a real rollercoaster. I'm not getting ahead of myself as I've had an experience in the past (without ICSI) of a freak cycle where none of the (also then 5) eggs fertilised at first, so it's a long week ahead. But today was a good day, and we have to cherish those 🙏 xx

Thank you Gemstar! Your EC results gave me lots of hope, I never thought the tiny follicles would give any eggs. It's so nice when a milestone works out better than you'd expected... and so rare 😂 x

I know! Honestly, my news is generally poor in these cycles 😭so was completely amazing to hear we got so many (when you're expecting 1 or none, 5 seems like a huge blessing😂) Now to see if any actually fertilised and if we will have any embryos 🙏xx

Awesome news, Aurora, so pleased for you!! Keeping fingers crossed for a good fertilisation rate! All went well here yesterday too - really pleased we got 7 eggs out of our 8 follicles! Got another polyp on my endometrium though so we'll have to move to a frozen cycle! Let me know how you're getting on! x
