what to ask in follow up appointment

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone is able to please offer me some advice on what to ask in my follow up appointment tomorrow after a negative pregnancy test.

Here’s my history which has all been as a single person I’m 41 years old, 42 in January.

AMH in September 2023 was 7.7.

Followed healthy diet /lifestyle took all vitamins suggested and regular reflexology.

May 2023 - IUI, which ended in emergency surgery for an ovarian ectopic at 8 weeks.

November 2023 - Round of IVF, 5 eggs collected, 2 of which were mature. One embryo that made it to blastocyst and transferred on day 5. - negative pregnancy test.

May/June 2024 - IVF with a new clinic. Long protocol of decapeptyl and pergoveris, double shot of ovitrelle. Only 2 eggs collected, both mature and fertilised, I had a double transfer at day 3 they were a grade 2 on scale of 1-5 (one being the best) - negative pregnancy test.

My follicle count was good before hand and the clinic had been really happy with how I responded.

This failed round has hit me really hard and I might be at the end of my journey emotionally and financially.

The low number of eggs collected is one thing I’m going to ask about , would anyone have any thoughts on this or been in a similar situation?

Does anyone have suggestions for any other questions to ask in my follow up appointment?

Thank you for any help you can offer xx

Don't worry, I thought everything can hit me and the negative test can be the worst part after IVF , until I lost my baby boy week ago . His heartbeat just stopped inside of me. I had c section in 38 weeks. I think because I was so close and everything was unexpected for everyone, this part hurts the most . some how you have to keep going . Giving your self energy and saying to yourself you will be good.

Hi hun, so sorry for your BFN. it's hard to say to not worry etc. IVF is a tough journey and remember how hard and resilient we are to go through it. Has your clinic done any genetic tests etc? I was sure we had only the male factor + my hormonal imbalance but it turned out that I also had quite high ANA which potentially messed up with our implantation or it was rejecting pregnancy as a "threat". Try to ask if they can do any investigations, unfortunately they are quite expensive I think I paid around £800 for tests for me 4 years ago. You can also ask for their advice what could they change/do to make a difference with your next transfer. I wish you all the best!

hi lovely, it’s great you’re planning ahead. I’d ask questions about timing - I had better numbers starting at my baseline scan rather than cycle day 2.

Tweaks to medication of course, and maybe ask them to review your supplements as mine were quite generic. I added in zomacton to my drugs too this time to help egg quality & growth - I got 17 eggs this time and 12 were mature which is a better rate for me (I’m 42).

Best of luck
