Looking for positive BFP stories

I’m 41- 42 in November My husband and I have had 6 failed IUI and 2 failed IVF cycles

1st IVF 8 eggs collected 5 mature and fertilised 2 survived and were transferred on day 3. BFN 5 Days post transfer

2nd IVF 8 eggs collected 8 mature and 8 fertilised- none survived to day 3.

We are now looking at round 3 in a couple of months.

I’m really just looking for hope. The stats are shocking at my age and Doner eggs are not an option.

Thanks x

Hey Noviagrace, my husband were 39 when we started. Had 2 fresh rounds one when we were 39 and second just as we're nearing 40. The fertilisation side was good, but had a few failed transfers with one miscarriage. I then stopped for 6 months to change diet and gather myself and am in early stages of pregnancy again. I'm close to 41 now. Had to change a few things like doing natural fet and taking aspirin. Good luck xxx

Take some supplements like coq10 to improve your quality of eggs. For many women over 40+, mini ivf can be an option. Should focus on the quality of eggs rather than the quantity. Maybe just simulate to collect 1-2 eggs each month continues for 3 months. It might find one good quality egg. It is also important to check your partner’s sperms quality, if everything is normal should also do the DFI test to confirm there is no issue.

Hi hun I start my ivf Journey in 2015 I was 34.

First fresh cycle didn’t work so 2016 we change the clinic and done second fresh cycle. We had one embryo grade A transferred and one grade A to freeze.

From that we had BFP my miracle baby girl was born in may 2017.

November 2018 we decided to go back to the clinic to see what best options is for us to try for siblings .

Doctor check my AMH which was 5.7 so we decided to leave the one we had in freezer and do one more fresh cycle.

March 2019 I had 14 eggs collected when down to 4. They transferred embryo grade A and another 3 embryos was able to freeze.

Didn’t work so few months after we done natural frozen cycle and two embryos grade A was transferred. This one didn’t work either.

Beginning of 2020 we done medicated frozen cycle with one embryo transfer and that one BFN .

After first lockdown when clinic was able to start fertility treatments we decided to use my last frozen embie and went through natural frozen cycle....again BFN 😔

Nothing was holding us anymore in that clinic so we decided to change the clinic next to my home .

We checked my AMH which was 6.7 and we done one more fresh cycle two months before my 40 birthday.

They collected good amount of eggs when down to 4 . Embryologist was calling us with update how my embryos progressing and those 4 was doing really well . We had 5 day embryo transfer with embryo grade AA and they was really please about it and we get usb stick how this transferred embryo was progressing in those 5 days.

Next day embryologist call us saying that they r grade c and they don’t recommend to freeze so we ended up with no frostie 😔

We had the longest 12 days waiting till OTD ...which was due day before my hubby birthday.

I didn’t had and symptoms only on and of like few minutes last period pain nothing else . I was 99% sure that didn’t work again so in a morning of the test day I pee in little plastic pot give 3 pregnancy test and told my hubby to do it because I cannot face it anymore BFN .... few minutes after he run to me screaming yeeeeessss we done it.

The only think I done different this time was taking ubiquinol twice a day with folic acid for around two months before till transfer day only ubiquinol but I was continue with folic acid.

I’m 11 weeks + 5 days and there is still chances for us over 40 hun .🙏xx

Hi there, I did my egg stimulation/retrieval at 40 in January 2020. I think my AMH was 9 at the time. 18 eggs retrieved but only 8 mature. 7 fertilised. Only 3 made it to day 5. I had to freeze all as I was over stimulated. Fast forward to January 2021, after lockdown delays and several other setbacks, I did a double transfer at age 41. I’m now 7 weeks pregnant with twins.

If you can afford to, then definitely try again. The stats may not be great but I was given a 5% chance that my transfer would work because of age, and thin lining. As long as your chances are better than zero, you have a chance. Keep going.

I also recommend Zita West’s IVF prep vitamins. I took them for 4-5 months before my egg stimulation to help with quality.

I wish you the best of luck!!! It’s not impossible.

Am 42 and in the 2ww after my first transfer. I know it's going to be difficult but I knew I wanted to try, hearing everyone's stories just makes me hopeful there is a chance.

Hey, there are definitely positive stories out there from ladies over 40! I met my husband later in life and we stared IVF when I was 41, we wanted to try naturally first which we did with no luck!

2018 - 1st cycle mild IVF. 3 blastocysts double transfer BFN.

2019 - 2nd cycle mild IVF, 19 eggs collected zero fertilisation.

2019 - moved clinics and did long protocol. 3 blastocysts. BFP with twins but had a MMC at 9 weeks.

2019 / 2020 - 3 cancelled FET due to thin lining.

2020 - 4th cycle 3 blastocysts and BFP from single transfer. Now 23 weeks pregnant and will be 44 when the baby arrives.

Has been a tough journey but so grateful to be where we are. We have 2 Frosties still which I’d still like to transfer in the future but my husband isn’t keen!! Wishing you lots of luck and always happy to chat if you have questions xx
