More success abroad?

I have amh of 1 and partner has male factor. Have people had better success going abroad for treatment?

We’ve just had our 2nd failed round. 1st round no eggs collected and 2nd round 2 eggs, 1 mature and 1 damaged. Gave us 1 good quality embryo which was transferred day 3 but a negative pregnancy test. Our clinic says donor egg is really the only route to go down but I don’t feel ready to give up on my own eggs yet as I am only 36.

I know everyone’s situations are different but very grateful of any advice. Xx

I have had more success doing IVF aboard. My AMH is similar to yours and we have male factor as well. PM me if you want to know more.

We had a much better experience in Prague than in Ireland. 1st round, cancelled due to poor response, 2nd round, failed sedation leading to abandoned retrieval, and 8 eggs. 1 day 6 blast, negative test. 3rd round, same again with the retrieval, this time 7 eggs. One day 6 blast again, again negative. Consultant said I needed general anaesthetic which he couldn't do, and probable egg quality issue, though not certain. Went to Prague. Different meds, general anaesthetic, this time 21 eggs retrieved! Couldn't believe it. 3 day 5 blasts and a day 6, and currently 28 weeks pregnant with one of the day 5s. The other 3 are safe and sound in the freezer. As you rightly say, everyone's circumstances are different but it may be worth at least having a chat with another clinic to see what your options are. They might have different thoughts to your current clinic. Worth at least having the chat!

Good luck to you!

Hey. Wow what a difference the treatment was for you. Would you mind DM the name of the clinic you used? Congratulations on the pregnancy must have been so joyful after the 3 failed rounds. X

Hi, I'm sorry to hear of what you're going through. In terms of embryos, I've had better luck in the NHS than in my Prague clinic. I had 8 eggs retrieved from both my ECs, in the NHS I got 4 blastocysts and in Prague I got 2 blastocysts. No success with any implantation so far. Good luck with whatever you choose to do xxx

Hey, That must of been frustrating to go abroad and not do as well as your NHS clinic. We only have one clinic near us so I am going to explore abroad options. I hope you get a sticky embryo soon. xx

Thanks, yes it was very hugely frustrating and disappointing. I am hoping it was just the wrong protocol for us and we can hopefully try something different and improve things next time. A lot of it seems to be pot luck! If I was you I would definitely try a different clinic, it's worth a go and to get a different doctor's opinion. I found it quite nice being able to do it abroad and explore a new place at the same time. I definitely don't think you should give up on your own eggs at this stage, you're still young in IVF years! Wishing you the very best of luck and hoping you find the right clinic and Doctor for you xxx P.s. might be worth seeing if there are also clinics that specialise in low AMH xxx

It is very much trial and error - which isn't great when you're having to pay so much money. The clinic I'm looking at in Spain specialises in low AMH and like you said it's nice to go away and explore new places. I hope your next protocol works better xx

Agree, it definitely adds to the stress! Thank you so much, you too, wishing you all the best xxx

Hi, could you pm me the clinic that specialises in low AMH. I’m in the same boat and my nhs consultant is pushing egg donation but I’m 36 this year and not ready yet. Have you tried DHEA? I’ve been advised to try that to see if it increases my AMH.
