hi everyone, I’m a few weeks away from starting our first IVF cycle. I am going to be taking Menopur and have read it’s one that you mix the solution yourself. I’m freaking out a little bit that it’s complicated and I’m overwhelmed with it all as it is.
Does anyone have experience with this that can reassure me?
TIA xx

hi lovely I hope you’re well , ask the nurses to do a practice round with you , that helped me and there are also videos available to reassure you and show you the steps. Also just be kind to yourself , try to do the best you can and hopefully it will be fine. I have to say it’s easier than you think, although I struggled with the mixing as I always seemed to lose some liquid but it all worked in the end, as long as you’re getting most of it it will be fine x all the best of luck x
don’t panic! The thought of it is way more complicated than the reality and you will be fine! Just a bit fiddly to make sure you get all the liquid up each time x
Hey! For my first I had a pre loaded injection which was easier but my last cycle I had menopur which you do mix yourself....however once you've did it once or twice it's totally fine and not as complex as it seems! I felt slightly overwhelmed doing it in front of the nurse at first when I got the easy option last time but it was fine so don't stress ☺️
Oh don’t worry too much about it. The nurse will show you how to do it and then Menopur also has “how to” videos on their website. The first couple of times feels strange, but then you get used to it. And I think that there’s a lot of room for error in this process, otherwise they wouldn’t let us do it at home by ourselves. You’ve got this! Xx
it’s super easy to do the mixing, it’s just making sure you get all the liquid back up ! I found holding on an angle & drawing the syringe back really slowly did the trick. After a couple of goes you’ll be able to do it with your eyes closed 💞 wishing you lots of luck !
sometimes you get the one that’s pre mixed and sometimes you mix it. It’s very easy and the nurses help you with your first one don’t worry about it at all 🤗💜 xx
hi lovely! I did this multiple times. A bit fiddly and time consuming but really easy if you do it methodically. Just lay it all out in advance and take it slowly the first time. You can also ask the nurses to show you.
You basically (1) syringe up the liquid using thicker needle. (2) Deposit it in the vial with the tablet thing that’s already in it. (3) Gently swirl it. (4) Then put the thinner needle on and syringe that new emulsion back up and inject it into your tummy.
Haven’t done it for a year now but it’s imprinted in my brain now forever 😂 (obviously do double check in case your one is different for some reason!).
