Menopur pain?

Hi, I’ve been on Menopur for 9 days and I’m having a couple of extra days on it due to poor response on last scan. Since yesterday I’m getting period like pain. Is this the normal side effect feeling? Is it a sign it’s working? When I google about it some sites say abdo/pelvic pain should be mentioned to the doctor. Just wondered if anyone has had this experience? Thanks X

Hi Gemmy, Firstly from what I’ve read on here and know I think everyone is different. So it’s hard to say what is what.

I have had lots of pain etc the past few days but then I have 30 follicles between the two ovaries, so maybe I’m just gettiing it because I’m too much stikulyd? They are doing egg collection with me on Monday still but then freezing as worries about OHSS. So can’t really advise Gemmy sorry.

Only thing I can suggest is ringing and askin? I know I have a number on the back of mine for a 24 hours? Perhaps you do too? X

Thank you for your advice. I only had one mature follicle last scan so don’t think my pain is from too many. It’s very hard to know. I will see if I have a number or call them tomo. I’m not back on for a scan till Tuesday. Good luck to you x

Hi again Gemmy. I've been on Menopur 400 and have had ovary pains for the last few days and lower back pain today. I've also been very bloated for the last couple of days. Day 10 today and I've just done my trigger shot. Scary! If the pain gets worse I'd suggest phoning your clinic to check it's nothing to worry about. I hope it all goes well for you over the next few days. xx

Thank you for your reply. Did you ask anyone about your pains? Or assume it’s normal side effects? I was pleased I had pains cause I hoped it meant things were happening 🤞🏻 but with it being my first cycle I’m not sure what to expect. Good luck x

I told them today I felt ready to burst and they just laughed! It's my first cycle so I don't really know what to expect either. I asked for my oestrogen level so I could check I wasn't getting overstimulated and the nurse said it was fine. I'm sure the pains mean good things are happening in there xx

I'm in my second round of using menopur. My egg collection is Monday. I'm having various stabbing pains, aches and twinges in my ovaries and feel very tired. I had the same with round one but for me nothing is wrong, just those follicles growing. Good luck!!! X

I got an odd pain on my last cycle which seemed to be my ovaries. I got the most eggs I’ve ever had on that cycle so I think it was just the pain of the swollen ovaries. It wasn’t exactly like period pain though, as was a slightly different place. It did start about day 9 of stims though.

Thanks for your reply Lizzie. I’m in for my scan Tuesday so I’ll soon find out. It’s hard when everyone responds differently but others experiences are still good for a bit of peace of mind. X
