Disappointing response to stims 🙁

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone’s journeys are going well.

A bit of background about me …

I follow a non standard protocol for FET where I inject gonal f alternate days to stimulate one or two follicle growth so the natural oestrogen encourages my lining to thicken. This normally takes 5 doses.

I have historically always had thin lining issues and this is the only way to thicken it. However even on my successful cycle with my LB my lining only got to 4.6mm.

I’ve been told that because I’m on the slimmer side it could cause my lining to be thin and to be careful not to exercise too much and lose too much weight.

anyway fast forward to today…

After 5 doses I had my scan today to see how things were progressing with my lining and follicles developing. There were only 2 follicles at 11mm (same as two days ago) and my lining was between 3.5 and 4.5 but was showing signs of triple lining.

So basically my ovaries aren’t responding as well as they should. My consultant asked me if I’ve put on weight which I have a bit after a stressful couple of months and being unable to exercise after a hysteroscopy. And he said that could be the reason. I’m feeling really disheartened as the weight gain (a couple of kg) I struggle with and am feeling unhappy in myself, but I haven’t been pushing myself too much as I’ve always been told not to be too thin! 😢🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve had my doses increased to daily now and I’m just hoping that my ovaries kick in and do their thing - everything crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

But now do I try to lose the weight or not stress my body!? 🤷🏼‍♀️

But then the nurse said to me maybe I should consider taking a break and she would highly recommend it. I just really don’t want to, I don’t feel like I need to and I think I would really struggle mentally with this, so I don’t really see it as an option as I’m not getting any younger.

Thanks if you’ve read this far of my ramble. If anyone has some words of advice or could just send me some positivity that would be appreciated 🤞🏻💕

Xxx

hi lovely, sending loads of good luck and positive vibes your way xx don’t be too harsh on yourself. Regarding the weight I’m not sure it’s really a factor , I’ve heard it both ways , e.g. people saying if you put the body under stress to lose weight it can mess the hormones and that also the hormones can be messed by gaining weight, then I also see people on the streets far from being on the thin side with multiple little ones ! So not sure it’s an exact science! I’d try to focus on nutrition and being active rather than trying to lose weight. We have enough pressure already through this process. And to be honest it could be anything , stress or poor sleep, the medicines we take etc there are so many things that could make the difference ..

hopefully you still have time and things can improve! Try the beetroot and pomegranate, and and go for walks to keep the circulation! Hopefully the story will turn into a positive for you, just remember to be kind to yourself xx

hi, I’ve never been on the slimmer side (I wish I was) but I was running a lot before I started IVF. Between the first and third cycles I gained 6 kg, but the third cycle worked and the consultant never mentioned my weight gain at all.

I would be very surprised if gaining 2 kg affects anything? Try not to less it stress you xx

Thank you to everyone who responded. I have tried every supplement possible for thin lining but my body just doesn’t seem to respond 🙁

Fortunately with the extra doses of gonal F I managed to get one big follicle at 18mm and my lining is 6mm trilaminar, which is about as good as I’m going to get so I’m allowed to go ahead! 🙌🏻🤞🏻💕🌈
