Hi folks, has anyone here got any experience with Bemfola? I'm currently on day 2 of stims so I've just taken my second dose. As I'm in 225 IU I am doing two jabs- a 150 and a 75 pen. The 75 pen is going in with no incident, but despite using the same technique for the 150 pen I noticed some leakage of the fluid. This has happened both nights, despite me following the instructions to the letter, counting to 10 after the injection, etc.
I'm not exactly an IVF novice; I've never had this with any of the other FSHs I've taken (ovaleap, menopur, meriofert, gonal-f) so I'm a little stumped. I've got my first progress scan tomorrow (on what will be my Day 4) so I'll bring it up with the nurse, but I'm a little concerned this will impact on my results.
Thanks in advance!

hi lovely, I hope you’re well xx try not too worry too much about it you are doing your best xx, they’ll be checking your progress and worst thing that could happen is that they’ll ask you to trigger later x I had a similar experience with meriofert, I don’t think there was anything wrong with it but it just kept squirting everytime, so I just decided to give up. It’s a lot to go through so try to be kind to yourself, hopefully it will all work out well , you can ask the nurses tomorrow to do a little mock up one if that would help xx Wishing you all the best of luck for your journey xx
thank you so much for responding! The nurse didn't seem bothered when I told her so I think you're right. I think as far as she was concerned most of it was going in so I'd be fine
Yes, bemfola was the worst for this! I know they say don't screw the cap on but i found twisting it really softly after placing the cap on until it feels a bit tighter helped with the leakage. Good luck!
Sorry you've encountered this! I know how stressful this is - I had this during my batch freezing cycle. I don't think it affected the cycles, maybe resulted in stimming for a day or two longer.
Annoyingly some batches of pre-loaded Bemfola pens leak - ask for needles from another batch if this happens consistently. I notified the clinic of this and they said they will contact the manufacturer.
As Choots says, twisting when attaching the needle cap does help - although it didn't completely prevent the leak for me.
You may find this thread from a couple of years ago helpful where I talk about the brand of needles and batch numbers healthunlocked.com/fertilit...
Thank you so much for the detailed response. While it's not ideal, it's definitely reassuring to know it's not just me, and this seems to be an ongoing challenge with bemfola.
Tonight my wife watched me do the stims and she thinks the liquid may be excess from when the needle primes. So hopefully only minimal amounts lost. I'll definitely check out that old thread though!
Thanks everyone for your thoughtful responses. Today I had my Day 4 scan and bloods. So far I'm responding well to the meds and the nurse is happy for me to continue my current dose. Definitely reassuring as I was concerned with all the leakage. Fingers crossed this good luck continues!
