I am back aboard the IVF train after a few months off to recover from the last round. New clinic new chance. Feeling hopeful. I just shot up my first dose of Gonal F- am on a short antagonist protocol.
Here is my question (I forgot to ask the nurse at the clinic today). Is it ok to jog during stims? I am no great runner (used to be) but got a treadmill to try and get a little fitter before starting again and I would very much like to keep on using it and try to keep my fitness up a bit.
Any advice much appreciated.

First thing I asked as I am a runner...my clinic said not to after the first couple of days. I was on long protocol but they explained that any strenuous exercise could rupture any developing follicles.
Not being able to run is yet another thing to deal with as for me it really is my time for head space but for now long walks will have to do.
Best wishes to you on this cycle. I struggled with this in that I like to go for a jog a few times a week. I didn’t get back to it until three weeks post stims. Clinic advised six weeks but I felt fine in myself to go back to gentle jogging.
I’ve plodded sooooo many miles on my walks which has been okay but you can’t beat the feeling of getting your heart raised and happy endorphins from a jog. I’m more of a shuffler than a ‘runner’ but really did miss it.
Great to have the treadmill for walks during this time as the weather has taken a toll for the worst!
Hey! I asked this of a nurse during my recent stims as I’ve had to stop my strength and HIIT training and she said it would be OK to do gentle jog during stims. She said it would help with my mental health overall during the process so that was a good thing. I only went a couple of times and probably were in the first week before I got really bloated but it felt good to get out there for a bit. I’ve stuck to just walks and yoga since collection and whilst in my TWW but itching to do some more exercise and pick up some of my weights!xx
My clinic said I could do gentle runs every other day up to 5km which I did throughout my stims and up to embryo transfer. They said because I was used to running and it was part of my lifestyle then I was ok to carry on, just at a gentle pace, not to start anything new or try and smash any PBs. On the other days I did a 6km walk so exercised throughout. It didn’t have any harm on my round of ICSI as I got a BFP and now at 8 weeks with a detected heartbeat.
It’s important though that you only do what you feel comfortable and I I don’t think there is too much right and wrong, it’s all just down to our bodies.
I find exercise really helps my mind and I found that important during the whole process that I had that time to just go out have a run.
Thanks for these wonderful replies. I think since I have been out of the way of running for a while and am only getting back into it I should probably hold back or at the most do a very very light jog. Got up and did fertility yoga this morning! Really feel grateful to have such a supportive community to be part of during this crazy time. Xxxx
