I am due to start a FET next month and would like to add intralipids into the cycle due to having three miscarriages during previous IVF cycles. However my clinic doesn’t offer this service so does anyone know where I could have Intralipids done without needing a prescription?
I would be looking in the London and surrounding areas. I know Cherish in Birmingham offer this service but I would rather not travel this far if possible.
Thanks for your help!

Hello, just be aware you will probably have to do a full initial consultation for them to decide whether they will offer intralipids. They will do without a prescription but my understanding is you will also be their patient for immune based treatment and they will have recommendations for you which may or may not include intralipids. This was my experience anyway, I appreciate I might be wrong. Good luck x
Oh yes sorry didn’t mention that yes she has to pay for consultation numerous times as they only give protocol for a few weeks, all in all the immune treatment has cost more than her ivf clinic. Also something to bear in mind sometimes the immune protocol dosnt line up with protocol from ivf clinic so then you have to decide what protocol you are going to follow. My daughter choose to follow the immune protocol. Something else to also think of is the travelling, she has to go every 3 weeks, so time and cost travelling also x
My Clinic in London didnt offer this service either and they told me to contact Zita West clinic London. We haven’t contacted them yet as we only used prednisolene not intralipids for this cycle.
I had used intralipids for my previous transfer but my clinic was then based abroad so they sold me intralipids bags and told me to find someone in London who can administer them which wasn’t an easy task. We found “Harley street nurses” very helpful … I gave them the medication and they have administered it for me ( the intralipids abroad cost me€11 🙃 however the price for administration in London was £225 I believe)
Thank you for this info, greatly appreciated, I have looked at trying to source just the intralipids but I need a prescription for this.
I will definitely try Zita West’s clinic and see what they say. I’m convinced I can’t be the only person in this situation and there must be a solution!
It’s intravenous drip infusion so it has to be administered by medical professional. It’s dripping slowly over the period of maybe 1 hour, or a bit less.
argc offer them. They’re clinic is Wimpole street off Harley Street.. not sure if you’d need to be having treatment with them but worth an ask.. good luck x
Intralipids dint particularly change the outcome for me . My clinic refused it too . I did it one day before my 8th fet privately from a naturopath clinic . I do have multiple miscarriages in my history just my experience. Was quite expensive though
thanks for responding, that’s actually helpful to know that it didn’t change the outcome for you. Do you mind sharing which naturopath clinic you went to for them?
Hi. Wow isn’t it hard to find somewhere for this treatment. We have just had Intralipid treatment today at Zen clinic in Kensington with Maddie who is lovely. We provided our own intralipid which was prescribed by our ivf clinic in Spain. They did request a prescription and we also provided a referral letter that the treatment was recommended. They are able to order intralipid from their pharmacy and are going to do so for us in a fortnight when we go back. It was £50 for the 2hrs infusion, I’m not sure yet how much extra purchasing the Intralipid will be. They were really helpful and friendly. I’d definitely try them. Good luck with your treatment x
This is super helpful, thanks so much for sharing. If I can source a prescription from my clinic (which I’m unsure if I can) I will definitely look at this clinic. Thanks for sharing the cost involved too. I’m glad it’s not just me struggling to find this service!! Hope all goes well with your treatment too and you are successful 🤞🤞
Happy to share especially if it eases the anxiety of phoning and emailing clinics with no joy. It’s a stressful enough journey without feeling you can’t get something that may help, when you’re at the stage you’ll try anything. I’d honestly call or email as I believe they also have a private dr at the clinic, it’s worth explaining and asking. Maddie totally understood it’s an alternative treatment to support suppressing the natural killer cells and hopefully prevent miscarriage. We had the treatment on transfer day, today at 5.5 weeks, with another planned for 8 weeks we hope.
We did find a company called The Fertility Pharmacy that will send a nurse to your house for £375 to do the intralipid treatment. They were helpful, but they definitely need the original paper copy of the presciption, or your ivf clinic to register with them to digitally transfer a copy, and they needed longer to arrange it.
I totally agree - this whole process is full of stresses so I always appreciate someone going out of their way to help and share useful information.
That’s why I love these forums as people really understand each others situation. I think I will give them a call and see what they say, it can’t hurt can it. Thanks for giving me the nudge I needed!!
I hope the Intralipids help you too, at this stage I’m willing to try anything new that may help, I’m throwing everything at it!!
I have everything crossed we both have success this time 🤞🤞🤞x
Just to say I went yesterday to Zen pharmacy in Knightsbridge. It is a little spenny than doing it abroad but needed and they were great, efficient and lovely. highly recommend going there to have intralipids done if your treatment is overseas (most clinics I came across in London need you to be a patient to see you) - the price is around £230 depending on what meds/equipment you have. Good luck ladies xxx Baby dust to all.
