Lining 5.9mm on day 12.. not feeling very hopeful

Hi all,

I had my cycle day 12 lining scan today. My lining on my day 9 scan (on Monday) was 5.3mm. Today on cycle day 12, it was only ay 5.9mm. I was told the lining was triple layer however have been asked to return for a scan on Tuesday 23rd Jan to see if there are any developments. I have been advised that they would like the lining to be above 7mm. I am already on progynova 6mg daily and the nurse has prescribed me Evorel 100 patches to be changed every other day.

Not feeling so hopeful.. the nurse did advise we will have to cancel if the lining doesn't thicken up by Tuesday next week.

My lining during IVF stims was 8.7. So frustrating! I have acupuncture booked today so hoping that will help. :(

Has anyone been in the same position before? :(

Hope you get some helpful replies to your post Still possible lining will increase with the medication change Have seen some posts that suggest raspberry leaf tea[ 2 cups a day ] and pomegranate juice

Thinking of you

Hi lovetravelling - afraid I dont have any answers but just to say my day 12 scan - yesterday - wasnt 7mm either (6.8mm) and haven't been able to proceed yet either. I am on 6mg of Progynova and have been told to up the dose to 8mg and am very hopeful this will help and its just the way my body absorbs anything (I have IBS which results in occasional upset tummy). So hopefully the extra boost - and different absorbtion method will help you. But I would say I have been taking 1 tablet 3 times a day (now moving to 2, twice a day) so was hedging bets because of my upset tummy issues...

For my previous 5 transfers I’ve used Progynova, and at day 12 scan my lining has always been 7.something mm. This time my Dr wanted to try patches instead, and at my scan yesterday my lining was 8.42mm!

So if you’ve added patches hopefully yours will get a big boost. Also heard several stories of pomegranate juice really boosting the lining of someone in the same position as you’d so I’d definitely try that too.

I’m sending positive “thick” vibes and 🤞🏼 your next scan you hit the magic 7! X

Yes this happened to me! The patches turned it around and I now have an 18 month year old from that transfer.

Like you I had no issues with linings with my fresh transfer but with my FET lining was only 5.3mm after 9 days (and no real change at 19 days being 5.5mm - a scan in between seemed to show the lining thicken but was just likely differences in measuring between operators). They upped my prognova to 10mg/day from 8mg/day and added in Evorel 100 patches to be changed every other day. After 7 days on the increased prognova and 3 days on the patches still no change but after one last scan before cancelling on day 28 after being on the patches for 7 days my lining was 6.8-7mm and still looking triple layered. Thickness was still on the lower side but the doctor agreed to go ahead and I was implanted on CD33 (crazy late I know!).

Sorry for the long post but just wanted to demonstrate that it was the patches that worked for me and to give them some time to take effect. I was doing all the pomegranate juice and raspberry leaf tea from day 9 and while I think it can really help if your issue is poor blood flow. If like me you had no issues with lining thickness in your fresh transfer it is more likely you are someone that doesn’t respond very well to exogenous estrogen and in that case adding in the patches will hopefully give you the boost you need!

Keeping my fingers crossed it’s good news at your next scan x

I also don't have any answers but just to say you're not alone. My FET was cancelled yesterday due to thin lining. I was on 10mg progynova every day plus an Estraderm 100 patch every 2.5 days. On day 13 my lining was only 4.8mm & a week later only reached 5.8mm.

I was also drinking pomegranate juice every day, eating beetroot regularly, taking 2 raspberry leaf capsules every day, eating nuts, fish etc you name it. Also vitamin E capsule every day for about a year.

This is a recurring issue for me despite always being triple layered the max lining measurement has only ever reached 6.8mm during a fresh transfer. I've had 4 failed transfers 2 fresh 2 frozen and also other cancelled ones in between due to thin lining. So despite the disappointment I'm glad the clinic suggested to cancel this time as it starts to feel like wasted embryos.

I'm keeping everything crossed for you & would love to know if the acupuncture helps at all.

Hi there. Please don’t despair. My lining never got beyond 6.3 and I tried everything from patches, tablets, viagra, nuts, beetroot juice, pomegranate juice, omega oil, vitamin E, raspberry leaf tea and tablets, castor oil packs, acupuncture and reflexology. In the end my consultant was happy to transfer if my lining got to 6mm as it was triple layered. I didn’t have success then but that was most likely because of abnormalities with the embryo (due to my age). Anyway long story short I was fixated with my lining that I had scans each month even when I wasn’t doing IVF to check the thickness around the time of ovulation. It never really got beyond 6.3 and most of the time was high 5. I naturally conceived once when my lining was no more than 5.1mm. Sadly this resulted in a missed miscarriage around 8 weeks and then the following year I conceived again naturally (although I don’t know the thickness of my lining it couldn’t have been great as it was consistently thin over the years). I now have a little boy who will be 1 on Wednesday. I wish you the best of luck. I know how hard this journey can be. X

Hey LT! I completely understand how you’re feeling. My lining only went up by 1mm so my transfer was postponed. I’m going to try everything I can to have it optimal for next month, in addition to a similar protocol to you, drinking beet juice, pomegranate juice, Brazil nuts. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞🏽
