struggling with frozen transfer meds

I have been feeling really unwell the last day , I am taking 3 tablets of estrogen (estradiol 2mg ) daily in prep for my frozen transfer . I am now cycle day 10 and am awaiting my tracking scan on Friday . I am very bloated , and have a really heavy feeling in my lower abdomen and really bad pains last night , all this alongside feeling like I am hungover and have been sick a couple of times . The clinic aren’t concerned and say it isn’t related to my medication but I’m not convinced . Am I just sensitive to the estrogen ? I was absolutely fine with the fresh cycle I did in November . The aches and bloating are making me worry x

This is the first time I’ve used them. I’m not really sure the difference but my clinic wanted to try them this time x

Hi, I don't get the uncomfortable stomach pains but the hangover and nausea sounds just like the estrogen tablets! How long have you been taking them? I usually find it calms down after a few days, not to no symptoms but to a much more manageable level.

I can handle the sickness but the pains have worried me , we will see what the scan says but I definitely don’t get on with a medicated cycle . I’m annoyed as I was going to do a unmedicated cycle as I’m super regular with my cycles . I have been taking them for 9 days xxx

That's not so good then. It would be worth speaking to your clinic but hopefully you will get reassurance all is well at your scan shortly. Make sure you are well hydrated and drink lots of plain water as it does help some of the bloating, and lemon and ginger tea really helps me with the nausea. Good luck!

Hi, my cycle is next month but I usually go about day 11 or 12 for my scan. When is yours?

Lots of women feel awful on the oestrogen tablets - I felt so dreadful and had such a bad response I ended up reducing the dose from 3 to 1 a day, then every few days after BFP, but I think that's fairly unusual and normally you get used to them/feel better if you eat when you take them/get better when you add progesterone... Someone asked pretty much the same question the other day on here and lots of women have posted similar, and had replies saying it gets better or hints on what helped etc, so maybe do a quick search and see if there's anything helpful in the replies? But obviously it could just be coincidence and if you start to feel really unwell, it's better to check with your clinic or GP.

Yep, estrogen can sometimes be a culprit for bloating during IVF. If the bloating is really throwing a party and not leaving, definitely chat with your IVF team. Good luck. Sending lots of positivity your way. x

I’m trying the Oestrogen patches this time as the tablets made me feel so awful! I was on on 4 a day and just felt bloody awful. I said to the clinic I think my body reacted poorly to it. They want to keep the dose the same but trying the patches on my tummy . I honestly found the fresh cycle better which resulted in my little boy over two years ago. I’ve found the FETS last year really hard had a MC and a BFN xx

It's been awful for me. I'm preparing for my first fet and just started 4 tablets of 2mg estradiol a day. I've had terrible insomnia, bloated and achey as well. I'm planning on getting massages and have been trying to do more yoga to try and relax more. But I totally feel you - it's been terrible.

Hi Natasha2012 - I’m also day five and also having a pretty miserable time. Bloating and gastro side effects are pretty mild, for me it’s the emotional ones! I came home from work yesterday and just cried (for no reason) 😂 everyday is a PMs day!

Keep your eye on the prize, try some ginger tea, small/regular healthy snacks and I also find sucking boiled sweets/chewing gum helpful. In a couple of weeks it’ll all be worth it - stay positive!

I’m glad from a selfish point of view that others are going through it , I had no idea frozen transfers were so rough ! I most certainly am , I’m visualising that positive test ! I feel like an absolute lunatic right now ! Good luck to us all ❤️❤️❤️
