Does anyone know much about Prothrombin Time? Mine just came back at 12.5 seconds - my hospital says the range is 12.8-17seconds so I think my blood clots a bit quicker than normal? Does anyone know what the treatment is for that?
Sorry I’m not speaking to my doctor until 9th Jan and obvs freaking out that we could maybe have found a reason why I keep having early miscarriages (I’ve had 3 chemicals and one missed miscarriage, plus two ectopics in 5 years). If anyone has any idea (or if they’ve experienced anything similar) i’d really appreciate the feedback.
Obvs I’m going to go with whatever my doctor says in Jan but I think I might go crazy waiting 5 weeks to get even a bit of an answer. Also wanted to try naturally whilst we wait for the appointment but if it means I need help with blood thinners or something I might avoid until I’ve spoken to her.
Oh and the only other result that might be a bit dodgy was my APTT, that was 33.5 seconds and I think the normal range is between 25-37/40 seconds so that one is likely fine, but slightly on the higher side of normal maybe.

I had multiple miscarriages, may be due to embryo quality . My thrombophila came back in normal range . My clinic doesn’t believe that I have a clotting issue . Something strange happend on my most recent loss , which may be go in deep and research on this blood clotting issue . Towards my 7th week of pregnancy, went in to do some blood work . In between the blood draw the phlebotomist kept telling me blood seem thicker and clottier and had to start over again on other hand . By tenth week my pregnancy stopped . I did read an article about supraficial levels of estrodiol can make the blood thicker and clottier . Even if our thrombophila profile is within a range or in the border line doesn’t mean it will be same while we taking all these additional hormones and meds . Baby aspirin is no harm better to start it as we prepare for fet
Ahhh so sorry to hear that. I’m surprised they didn’t do anything about it of the blood seemed thicker/clottier.
I don’t take any meds when I do my fet, just progesterone. I did try baby aspirin last time but it didn’t work. But I might start with baby aspirin again just in case, or until I get my doctors appointment.
I have been in this journey for close to 7 years now . I have changed multiple clinics and doctors . Believe it or not it’s hard to convince them to prescribe you something despite you show them evidence . Predisolone does make a difference , I believe in that .
Hey. I was wondering if you had any updates following your appointment with the doctor?
I've just had an early miscarriage so requested multiple tests to review that state of my health. My Prothrombin Time came back low at 9.4 seconds which I believe means my blood clots quickly. We're due for another transfer with ICSI in March and so the plan is to do everything we can to have a successful healthy pregnancy.
Hey - yeah my doctor wasn't worried about the prothrombin time as it was only JUST out. Which I was surprised about but she's the expert!
She does think I might have a slight subseptate uterus causing the issues though so next steps will be a hysteroscopy to sort it. She did say she would want to repeat the thromboelastogram in early pregnancy to see if my levels aren't right in pregnancy but are normal when not if you get what I mean. If it's not great then I'll need aspirin and/or heparin.
Did your doc test your prothrombin time when you were still technically pregnant or after? So sorry you've been through the early miscarriage, it's horrible isn't it
Thanks for your reply! I was tested a few weeks after miscarriage. My clinic didn't do any testing while I was pregnant. I've already requested this for the next transfer.
