poor quality day 3 embryos

hi all, going through ICSI process currently - had egg collection on 1/11/23 where 4 mature eggs were collected they said they were happy with this (I’m 38 and my AMH was 3.9) the next day I got the call to say two eggs successfully fertilised, but today on day 3 the clinic called me to say both are poor quality and one is much poorer than the other but she said this isn’t good news…. They will call me Monday 6/11/23 to let me know if they will go ahead with transfer …. Can poor quality day 3 embryos make it to day 5 blastocyst? Has anyone had any experience of this? Feeling very sad right now . Thank you in advance

Thank you - I have felt so deflated since and it’s horrible as they said they will call me Monday morning to let me know if they’re going ahead which is just excruciating 😭

The wait is most definitely the hardest bit, it causes so much anxiety, I know exactly how you’re feeling. I just had my 3rd round and paid for embryoscope this time and they called me every morning so I was able to relax a little. I found it really worth it as everything was less of a shock.

Like Rella22 said, it can turn around, I’m rooting for you and your little embryos 🙏🏼 xx

Thank you so much , I did pay for that too but they still won’t call me today which is worrying me. I also went for the embryo glue? I just feel so helpless and out of control it’s a horrible feeling isn’t it. Thank you for rooting for them I’m hoping they will make an improvement and fight on and at least I can have them transferred. I would feel a lot better if they were transferred and then I could look after them ❤️

Oh no ☹️ that’s so bizarre they won’t call you - Embryoscope allows them to check without disturbing them, so sorry you have this wait. At least having the Embryoscope, you should get a detailed explanation or your embryo development. 🤞🏼fingers crossed they’ll be safe where belong come Monday. X

Thought I would update! At 8am we were called to inform us that miracles do happen and the poor quality embryo had developed into a grade A perfect embryo!! Had the transfer today 😊❤️… other embryo still at cleavage stage at day 5 so they are not sure it will develop but anything can happen 🤞🏻🙌🏻❤️

Hi there,I am praying for you 🙏. It can go either way. During one of our ICSI cycles we had 2 decent embryos and one poor quality. Unfortunately the 2 decent quality didn't survive to day 5 but the little lagging behind that was considered very poor quality at the time made it to day 6 freeze.

That little delayed fellah is on the outside today and very health boy so I wouldn't lose hope. I was exactly like yourself that day when I received the call.

Our next cycle had similar events of good ones not making it and the little fighters made it to freeze.

I am rooting for you with all my toes and fingers crossed. But remember this is just my experience and want you to prepare yourself for either course as I've been in both situations. All the best my dear. Look after yourself.

Thank you I’ve been reading up and lots of poor quality day 3 can make it to day 5 but i don’t know if I’m just clinging onto something where actually there isn’t any hope. I was so shocked when they called me I didn’t even ask what the grading were for both of them so I don’t know how bad the situation is. Stories like yours do give me hope though as some are little fighters aren’t they ❤️

My embryos were always poorer quality day 3 transfers. We never made it to day 5 but the clinics recommended transfer anyway. Our 3rd cycle worked and those poorer quality embryos are now nearly 4 year old twins. Don’t give up hope and ask them about day 3 transfers x

Thank you. I am positively hoping because they are both poorer quality they may put both in? I’ve been to loads of psychic readings in the past where they have said I would have twins and the number three comes up a lot (I have an 8 year old son already) so I’m praying on everything that we do get a chance and they do transfer. It’s just a horrible head space to be in isn’t it. I asked if they would transfer yesterday but they said they wouldn’t and would call me Monday day 5 for possible transfer then. This has made me think to prepare for the worst though…
