Hello, i just wondered if anyone has had success with a poor quality embryo transfer. We have frozen a 3cc, 4cc, 4cb and a day 3 8 cell grade 2. We are planning another fresh cycle to start in the best few days but if we get nothing to transfer will be putting in 2 of our frosties.
Thanks

I just had 2 x 5CCs transferred, and had an early loss (or chemical - I’m never sure what to call it when you test positive for 10 days ish... chemical or early MC). You see lots of positive stories about embryos of that grading though, so I think I was very unlucky to conceive and then lose it.
I have 3 more blasts left that will all be transferred together in less than 4 weeks, so I’m hoping that I will have good news for you to give us all faith in our poor ones! They are another 5CC, a 2C and a 2.
Thank you, and sorry for your loss. I was worrying myself as read so much that some clinics won’t even freeze embryos less than BB. Wishing you all the luck for your next transfer, I’ll be keeping an eye out for your update xx
I had to put my foot down with the clinic... the embryologist wanted to discard them but no way was I spending £10 or 11k on 3 rounds and having nothing to show for it at all! If they can survive the freeze and the thaw then they deserve a chance! There is the chance that they won’t thaw well I guess, but my other two 5CCs thawed beautifully.
Have you transferred any before these ones? Is it definitely the best thing to do a new round? I asked about doing that but my consultant said why would we do that, when our baby might already be in these embryos xx
I have had 6 fresh goes previously, the first 3 rounds the clinic was a total shambles so I try to forget about those rounds, then we moved clinics and changed to a milder protocol where I’ve had much better results, more eggs, better fertilisation etc etc. I’ve had 2 transfers previously with this clinic, a 3 day 8 cell grade 1 FET which was BFN and a 3BB which was a chemical. I have a low AMH though and I think I’m so scared of things getting worse that I just want to bank as many as possible.
You sound very similar to me... my first two rounds were a disaster and I would NEVER use that clinic again. Switching to modified natural I got more eggs and my first blasts!
My consultant says that reaching blast is a major milestone, so you have a few that have reached that stage which is great! I had a grade 2, day 3, 8 cell that they said looked better once they thawed it, then it arrested on day 4! So reaching blast means it has passed the tricky stage after day 3 xx
We are doing a mild protocol this time but if no luck I think we will move on to modified natural. Can I ask what protocol you were on for this and how many eggs you had each time? Are you with Create by any chance? Thats who we are with xx
My first round literally consisted of 3 bemfola injections, on alternate days, so I think day 4, 6 and 8 I did a 150iu injection on top of daily tamoxifen tablets. Got 3 eggs, and 3 fertilised, one grade 2 frozen at day 3. The second round we upped the bemfola to daily 150iu for 8 consecutive days, and we got 6 eggs and 6 fertilised, 5 not great blasts all frozen. The 3rd and last round was the worst, when he put me on 225iu daily. I’m not sure whether it was the higher dose that made it worse, more likely the fact than on day 2/3 at my scan I had one big dominant follicle already. We should have abandoned. We ended up collecting 3, but only the one big one actually did anything so I think the 2 others were forced and one was immature and the other fertilised abnormally.
Sweetie there is such mixed reports done say the best ones didn’t work and poorer quality ones did. Please don’t get too hung up or worry. They wouldn’t use if they didn’t think there was a chance of them working. Wishing you lots of luck xxx
This whole thing has us hung up and master googlers lol.
Not personally, in fact my clinic don't grade them. But I read an article recently about a clinic in America who are opting to use the lower quality embryos and are having great success with them - bringing into question the whole grading system.
