Embryo grade - "poor quality"

Hello,

I'm looking for some reassurance. I've just had my embryo transfer, second one from this round, and the embryologist told me it was a 4bc. I didn't know the grading before but after googling it sounds like it is poor quality. Does anyone have any success stories with this grade? I am feeling very despondent. This was supposed to be a great day and now I'm stressed.

Don't let this worry you! 4bc is not a low quality embryo 😍 Rating of embryos is actually quite subjective and can vary from not just clinic to clinic but embryologist to embryologist. If they froze it, they think it has a good chance. I guarantee you there will be many women on here who went on to have successful pregnancies with 4BC embryos 💚 Think positively and enjoy being PUPO! Lots of luck xx

I agree with AuroraXen and would try not to get to hung up on the grading. Grading varies enormously and if they had looked an hour earlier or later it may have had a different grade. I have had an embryo transferred from one clinic to another in the past. My original clinic graded my embryo a C grade (they use an uncommon grading system). The new clinic graded it a 4BB so as you can see the same embryo looked like it had been graded differently xx

I was always told if it's good enough to freeze, it's good enough to make a baby! I really think more clinics should keep the grading secret because it can make people stressed and also like AuroraXen says, no two clinics grade in exactly the same way. Wishing you so much luck xxx

I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant with the lowest grade embryo I’ve ever had transferred a 4CA and I was convinced it wasn’t going to work but here I am! As others have said, it’s subjective and although lower graded embryos have a lower chance it’s not no chance. My clinic told me it was still 30% with a 4CC.

A consultant told me that only gold standard embryos with the potential to make a baby are frozen 🥰Currently feeding twins one who was an A and the other a C grade - the C being my lowest of all embryos, all As used previously yes these were the ones to bring home my boys!

Good luck x

I’m pretty sure this was the grading of my little boy (our 4th best embryo) but they didn’t say it was poor quality at all, they told me it was a ‘good’ embryo so in my experience not only can this grading of embryo absolutely work but the grading doesn’t necessarily mean chance of a pregnancy as our ‘perfect’ embryos didn’t work. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Close! I'm currently 12+2 with a 4CB, which I think is meant to be "worse" than 4BC. That 4CB is currently nestled up next to a 3BB.

It's the furthest we've got and these are our lowest graded embryos from our collection. So definitely think positive 🍀✨ You've got this! ❤️ x

was your 4cb frozen? I’ve got a 5ca my last frostie which I’ve been told has lower chance of surviving thaw and warm

It was! And it thawed just fine 😊 All fingers crossed for the same for your 5CA xx

I did not report back but I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant! So I would echo the sentiment on here that if it's good enough to freeze it can create a beautiful child 😘
