Update- taking too much cyclogest and how many embryos we’ve frozen

Thought I would post a little update. This morning I cleverly forgot I’d done my cyclogest already and used two pessaries. This triggered me into heading to the hospital in a bit of a panic, thinking I’d killed my embryo. The nurse reassured me that it was totally okay and that they sometimes subscribe the amount I’d taken anyway. I spontaneously burst into tears. Possibly a side effect from doubling up on progesterone 😂. I’d also just heard from the embryologist who confirmed that they’ve managed to freeze 5 embryos total. Whilst I am aware this is an okay number the fact I had 19 really great looking ones on day three from a 22 egg yield I was expecting more about the 9/10 mark by day 6. He also informed me that one of the 5 was arguably not so great and the rest were good enough but none top quality. The one we fresh transferred is the best, we have one exactly the same grade and then the others are worse but not atrocious. I’m not overly concerned but I am certainly less optimistic than I was a few days ago. Praying this embryo sticks so I don’t have to worry about more egg collections but I am aware my situation isn’t all that bad xx

just sending you a virtual hug. It’s all relative and I get the disappointment as the numbers drop, it’s a bit of a shock. You’re doing well though and I hope you have a sticky one on board. It’s great you have a few in the freezer - they don’t freeze them unless they are decent and also, the grading is only an indication - you can have a perfect looking chromosomaly abnormal embryo and a less perfect normal one. Good luck xxxx

Thanks for reminding me of this. I feel like I need to find my optimism again. I also feel a bit guilty even being vaguely disappointed because I know that so many people don’t get as good results as I have. I guess until you have a baby in your arms nothing is certain and the lack of certainty is one of the challenges. I too hope my embryo is a sticky one, it feels like such a lottery. It’s mad to think that people fall pregnant by accident! X

I know. Imagine just finding out you are pregnant! I grieved losing that joy, ivf takes all the fun out of it

The lack of certainty is a killer. Don’t feel guilty, we all worry and are all on our own journeys. There are always people worse off and always people better off, we all want the same thing that comes so easily to many.

I got pregnant first ivf cycle and has my son. Super lucky. Had no idea then about embryo quality or chromosome issues. Our challenge was male factor. I was 36.

Fast forward a few years and I’ve had to terminate a pregnancy at 17 weeks due to severe chromosome abnormalities, had transfers that didn’t work and a chemical.

Now I’m using donor embryos. Each of us is on our own path. Xxx

glad the nurses managed to reassure you ! I hope you have recovered from the scare and feel better now xx . I know how the panic of not knowing whether you did something wrong feels ! I could never do the stims injections properly, I always lost some liquid somehow or the needle wouldn’t go in, or something else .. I just gave up on the idea of doing it perfectly after a few days haha

Congratulations on all your Frosties that’s a great outcome ! Hopefully you won’t need them straight away but it’s good to have some just in case and to save yourself from doing egg collection and all that again! Like others have said if they thought they were good enough for freezing then they would be good enough for transfer! We had 6 that made it to day 6 but they were deemed not ok for freezing, I wasn’t even told any ratings.

We only got 3 day 5 blastocyst (2 frozen) they said they were top rated but I learned the hard way that without the testing that doesn’t mean much, our first 5AA one already failed 💔. I got my theory that potentially the less perfect ones would be better quality 🤞🏼🤞🏼Currently waiting for my body to recover to try again with a frostie, only got 2 more shots at it !

Best of luck, hope your little embryo is getting comfortable inside xx

Thanks for taking the time to respond and for being so lovely!! I’ve been okay with my injections but I do find the Lubion so annoying and bubbly! I’m sorry to hear that your transfer didn’t work, hopefully the next one is your baby 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻.

I only got 3 embryos from 13 collected so I think 5 is good. Good luck x
