After several failures, I am wondering how many embryos/how many more transfers I will have to transfer until success. I am only doing day 3 transfers (hence not tested). Anyone over 40 had success with day 3 transfer? how many embryos/transfers did you do cumulative until you found the golden one?

Die, Gosh after all that.....injections etc. That is must feel awful, I am due to speak to Dr at a genetic clinic next mth, she might try with my own eggs, another clinic said they definitely would. I then have upto 50 to use egg donor
I guess it depends how much over 40 you are? If you are age 30-35 with success rages at around 30% then you’d need to factor in 3 transfers but if you are Over 43 with success rates being only 2-3% you need to factor in a lot more? X
We have done three rounds, two using my eggs and the last using a known donor.
The first two rounds we had 5, 5 day blasts - our clinic only uses 5 day blasts not 3 day.
We’ve had 1 BFP which ended in MC before the 7 week scan. 2 failed to implant and the other two we had PGTA tested and were chromosomally abnormal
So we decided to use donor egg from my 30 yr old sister, first transfer I’m 18 weeks.
Our consultant said before we did the donor round we could have another go using my eggs and ‘we might get lucky’ which we decided against doing.
I think it depend on how much you want to put yourself through and if you have a lot of money in the bank?! I’ve read on here about a lady who did 9 rounds and eventually got lucky
When I was 40, my doctor told me one out of 12 eggs should be good. Since I had low AMH and I was getting only 1 egg per each cycle that ment I would need 12 cycles to find it.
In my case he talked about eggs not embryos. It probably depends on everyone's circumstances. Our sperm was great, no genetic issues found via carrotype tests etc. Plus I did get an embryo from just one egg but BFN. In the end, it took me about 12 cycles of trying with IUI or naturally to get pregnant.
Hi, I'm 43 and currently pregnant with a day 3 embryo but I also got pregnant with my first IUI a month before my 41st birthday. I've since had more IUI's and 3 rounds of IVF, first I ovulated before EC so they only found 1 egg and transferred it on day 3 but BFN, the second I transferred two day 5 eggs, BFN and this time two day 3 eggs. You're just searching for that good quality egg so you can be lucky early on or have to do a few cycles, there's no magic number that you have to get through to succeed. I'm so sorry you've had failed cycles, it's so tough, all you can do is make sure you're eating healthy and maybe a few supplements and then trust your body to do the rest. I know that's easier said than done but really hoping the next round is your winning one.
I am 44. I’ve transferred a total of 16 embryos In six fresh rounds, and had one BFP (miscarried) and 2 chemicals from IVF. I started when I was 38/39. We have now been told to move onto donor eggs
It depends on so many factors it’s impossible to answer your question really - for everyone like me there will be someone who at 43 had a baby from there first round - there are tons of biological factors but a real chunk of luck too x
I am 45 and after all the financial and emoțional pain of IVFs we decided to adopt an embrio. There are so many of them left frozen after successful IVFs. It worked the first time for us, we choose a 6 day old frozen embrio and it was a successful implant. My beautiful baby boy was born 3 months ago. I've heard of IVF success stories at my age but we decided to go the safest and cheapest route after multiple failures. I could not afford any more pain. Donor eggs were expensive and the process was so much longer. This way I was pregnant în less than 3 months of starting the process. There are thousants of frozen embrios waiting out there. I wish you all the best, success is possible. I just wanted to share a plan B just în case. 🥰
Have you tried pre-treating your ovaries with DHEA? That seemed to make such a difference in egg quality for me at the age of 43 and the result is now taking his midday nap And also early egg retrieval has been shown to help older women.. here are some studies about both of these: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... and ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
The DHEA study was in women with low AMH but it has also been found to be effective in older women.
