Oh good morning everyone! I'm only recently joined & my 1st time to post here. I'm looking for advice re surrogacy. What age would you consider is too old to be a surrogate?
Thanking you all in advance

Hi Roellen. It might be an idea to have a look at the Surrogacy UK website. They should have all your answers. I believe there is an upper limit if you are using the surrogate’s eggs. There is information on our website too at fertilitynetworkuk.org Diane
Many thanks Diane for your reply. I realize I didn't make myself all that clear, I was SO nervous to post I just pressed send real quick! I meant what would people consider to be the upper age limit to be a surrogate. What would you think? In the meantime I will check out that website...
Hi. Using surrogates eggs then it would by 35 and under. Just to carry embryos that are yours I believe up to 55. Good luck with your research. Diane
Hi Roellen,
I’m currently researching the surrogacy route. In answer to your question, I think it depends on whether you’re looking at a traditional surrogate (TS -using their eggs) or gestational surrogate (GS- no genetic link between surrogate and baby).
For me, if it was a TS, I’d have said max age of 35 or 36 as that’s when statistically the quality of eggs theoretically have a dramatic decline.
If it is a GS, I don’t think the max age matters so much. Providing they’ve had no complications in their earlier pregnancies, I’d say for me, it would follow IVF age limits (for example in Spain that would be 50).
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Sarah, many thanks for your reply! I know I didn't make myself clear on the original post.I'm seriously considering being a surrogate myself for a very close friend.
Ah hello IVF41 , Thank you very much for your reply. I know I didn't make myself too clear on the original post.I'm thinking of being a surrogate myself, for a very close friend. But I'm already 47 yrs so thought that might be an obstacle? But on initial research it possible in some cases. My heart is breaking for her & her husband. 💔
That is so wonderful of you. Our surrogate we picked is 25, 26 next month. I think if you have had successful pregnancies and your reproductive health is okay, 47 would be okay. I know my clinic in the US age stops at 48-49. But they don’t do it at that age because it messes up their success stats. Talk to your doctor! I think you are doing such a wonderful things! God bless you!!! Good luck to your friend!
