I don't know if this helps, because I'd had a transfer, so started progesterone, but after my failed FET (with down reg), my cycle was 32 days (I'm usually 24-26).
Bleed started on 14th day post-transfer (with transfer being day 0), 3 days after I stopped taking meds.
Thank you! Yes, I’ve also had a couple of failed medicated FET’s and so have taken progesterone and bleed has come around a few days to a week after stopping meds. This is a weird situation where I haven’t ovulated and haven’t had progesterone….
I guess your body is maybe waiting to ovulate then?!
I do find that clinics kind of only tell you about the impact of meds during the cycle, rather than after. I guess it makes sense, because that's the bit they're trying to control and have experience of, but it's hard when you're going through it and they don't really tell you what can happen next as fully.
I've had things go quite 'weird' following the down reg (body recruiting extra follicles etc) . Apparently this is very common, but no one told/warned me about it. And it sounds as though your situation is similar.
Hope someone with a similar experience responds to you, as I've really found the responses here the most helpful thing.
Your body has been through a lot, I hope you're able to be kind to it and yourself as you wait it out.xx
I was in exactly the same position with a cancelled FET, although I was cancelled on day 11. I got my period 27 days later (day 38). My normal cycle length is around 26 days.
Unfortunately mine was cancelled due to a cyst so waiting for the follow up appointment to see if it's changed before we go for the next FET / make a plan
Hi, I also had a cancelled FET due to the estrogen not thickening my lining, I was part of the 1% where it supercharged the follicle instead but lining was not where it needed to be to do the transfer. Once I stopped the estrogen I got my period 13 days later. My clinic have no said to try viagra to thicken the lining and no estrogen as I do not react well to it. Good luck for your next go! 💫
Thank you for your reply. I hope my bleed comes soon.
Sounds like your next transfer was a stimulated FET? Did you start the gonal f with the bleed right after the cancelled FET? Did you also do a trigger? How did that transfer go?
My clinic are also suggesting a stimulated FET but are thinking to start me with 75iu of Gonal f
Yeahh stimulated and I started on day 2 of that next bleed.. exactly how I would if I was doing a full cycle.
The Dr didn’t recommend a natural transfer because my periods are very light so he thought my lining needed some help.
The 150iu was too much.. I ended up with so many follicles. I didn’t ovulate so had to stimulate with ovitrelle and I was in so much pain. That transfer unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy. For our second stimulated FET I just done 75iu and it was much better in terms of pain and my lining was still around 8.6mm at transfer. We lost that pregnancy at 7 weeks.
We do have one embryo on ice but we’re doing another cycle first with pgta. When we finally come to transfer it I’d definitely do stimulated again. Good luck xx
I didn’t check tbh if I ovulated, I was annoyed that the estrogen also interfered with my thyroid function. I waited 1 cycle and am now trying a natural cycle with trigger. Currently on the journey so will let you know. My clinic didn’t offer me natural at first as they said it was easier to plan if medicated, clearly not in my case.
Thanks for your reply. I’m sorry it messed with your thyroid function. Can I ask what you mean by that? How did you know it messed with your thyroid? It’s annoying that they didn’t offer natural to start with.
well i was starting to feel real anxiety so I knew it must be the medication. Before I had the meds, I had my thyroid checked TSH was normal 1.5. After the meds it went to TSH 5.6 which is also too high to have the transfer. My body doesn’t respond well to all these extra hormones. So now I always have my blood work done before and during the cycle to check everything is normal.
Thanks for your reply. That’s interesting. It’s good you’re monitoring it now.
Interestingly my TSH has always been normal but then on the day of my first FET ( natural one) my TSH was as 5.8! It’s all very confusing why it went up like that. I saw an endocrinologist and she’s prescribed me 25mcg Thyroxine since then and TSH has always been a good level.
Hi. Sorry to hear it was cancelled. I know how disappointing it is. I was meant to have a FET in Feb. Cancelled due to fibroid seen and thin lining. Stopped meds on day 14. I am on day 36 and no period. I had a second opinion scan a week later and had 2 follicles there. I've not done ovulation tests. I stopped the estrogen suddenly and didn't follow advice and start estrogen as it felt crazy and I can't afford to waste meds now. Maybe this has slowed down my period coming! I've been told to start the pill on day 2 of bleed ready for FET in May. Good luck with Aunt Flow and your next FET!
I’m so sorry your cycle was also cancelled. It is really tough to deal with. I was told to stop all the oestrogen on day 18 when they cancelled the transfer. Good luck with your next transfer xx
Aww thank you. It's really upsetting isn't it. After all that planning and hoping. I hope we both get aunt flow soon so we can progress with the next steps! Good luck to you too. Xx
I had my FET cancelled on oestrogen due to a heavy breakthrough bleed (which started a couple of days before I was due to have my lining check to start progesterone). They counted that as a period (although it was quite a different type of bleed) and I’m still waiting for the next one. I tried tracking ovulation and have had negative opk tests for weeks. It’s now been over a month since the breakthrough bleed and I’m still waiting! I am starting to feel some cramps so fingers crossed.
I know this doesn’t give an answer, but hopefully useful to know that others are experiencing delays too!
