We are due to start our second round of IVF in a couple of weeks after a failed first cycle in April. I’m going to have an endometrial scratch to try to improve the implantation success. Does anyone have any advice on how to prepare for this? I’ve heard it can be uncomfortable and have been advised to take painkillers, but does anyone have any other tips.

Endometrial scratch - advice
Hi DuckyBooks, I had an endometrial scratch in April. I took paracetamol about an hour before, as that's what my clinic advised. If I'm honest, I didn't find it that painful, it felt more like my normal period pains. I always count ceiling tiles when I'm in 'those positions' so that helps distract me too (if no tiles I try focusing on counting my breaths). Good luck! Xx
I’ve had a few of these now (2 for fertility testing and one before my successful FET) and just took paracetamol half hour or so before then took it easy after. It’s definitely not pleasant but not really painful either and afterwards just like period pains really 👍 good luck xx
Hi DuckyBooks, be prepared when the pinwheel thing was turned inside me I felt the most intense and painful cramping I have ever felt in my life it lasted less than a minute and I was sore for the rest of the day I bleed a bit but the nurse said she had got a good layer of tissue off. Good luck x
I’ve had a couple of these and didn’t find them too painful- more just an odd, uncomfortable sensation. Took a couple of paracetamol before and just had mild period cramps after. Hope yours goes well too xx
