I had a fresh round and frozen round last year which were both negative. Then did a third round (another fresh cycle) and was advised to try the scratch. This time we did get a positive. They had also added metformin and aspirin to my plan so could have been either of these or a combination of all added items. It did end in miscarriage however. I am on treatment again and had another scratch 2 days ago. It does hurt but over quickly. Hard to say if it was the scratch that did it but it could have helped. Good luck xx

Thanks Judy! I am in two minds about it. I’m really not good with vaginal swabs and speculums so I’m thinking I’m going to need some sedation. It will be too difficult to do without it. Well I’m on my first Ivf trial and I thought if it increases my chances, I might as well give it a go.

I was the same and thought it can only help. There are no down sides to it (so i have read). My clinic doesn’t offer it under sedation. It does only take about 10-20 seconds tops! Have everything crossed for you xx

Thanks hun! I can ask and see what they say! She tried to do a swab today and I could feel the panic coming through! Ahh thanks for your support! XX

I've got exactly the same experience Judy18 had. 2 failed transfers then endometrial scratch before the 3rd one and got a BFP although this ended up in miscarriage. I've just had another one ready for my next cycle. Considering how expensive IVF treatment is the endometrial scratch is really nothing and it's over before you realise, so no need to panic is pretty much like a smear test. I would recommend it. Good luck Allthingsivf!! Xx

Thank you Trendy Dove! It’s been 5 years and I’ve not had any positive news. This is my first ever IVF procedure and I am praying it will be my last. I’ve had so many negative pregnancy tests and late periods/false symptoms. I’m not very good with even smear tests! I’ve avoided one for so many years!! Sending you wishes and prayers to you too ❤️

My first attempt failed and didn’t know about the scratch 2nd try I researched into ivf a lot more and spoke to a couple of people who had the scratch and got pregnant so I decided to try it now have a 4 month old baby through my 2 nd ivf cycle. NHS say there is no clear evidence to say having the scratch makes a difference but I’m glad I tried it - good luck x

I had a scratch 3 weeks before my first transfer and I have just got a BFP. My consultant said after lots of research it doesn’t make a difference but I wanted to try everything so I opted for it.I didn’t find it any more painful than a smear test and the whole procedure for me was about 5-10 mins.

Good luck 🥰

Congratulations! I am going to say yes to the scratch then! Thanks xx

1st round failed without scratch had chemical pregnancy and 2nd round 2 times fresh and frozen 2 kids now 1and 2 yo. partner has mfi - azoospermia. Wish you all the best no matter what you choose 🥰

Note take 2 paracetamol 1 hr before procedure. It takes the edge of uncomfortable.

Also procedure takes no longer than 40 secs. Think of positives outweigh negatives

I had a scratch before my last transfer in November 20, it ended in a chemical pregnancy so I don’t think it really worked. But if you do go for it, take one paracetamol and one ibuprofen an hour before the scratch and you shouldn’t feel any pain.
