OHSS, 6 weeks and crampy

Hi everyone, I'm hospitalised currently with severe ohss. It's being managed but completely horrendous. I have period pains low down, I'm just 6 weeks pregnant, and wondering if anyone has any words of encouragement on the cramping? The hospital aren't concerned but I'm freaking out.

Thanks xx

Hi Molliemoo. Unfortunately I can’t comment as I’ve never had OHSS when I’ve had treatment but didn’t want to read and then not post anything. Try and stay calm throughout this time, it is reassuring that you are in the best place if any problems xxx

So sorry you’re poorly ☹️ I had ‘mild’ OHSS after EC and even that was horrendous! I’ve never been pregnant but had crampy type pain with OHSS. Hope the hospital are looking after you and you feel better soon!

I was also hospitalised- it was horrendous and I am so sorry. Make sure you are getting lots of fluids through the IV. They will discharge you soon. As for the cramping, it’s normal in early pregnancy - just check for any spotting. As you are in hospital, demand a scan to reassure yourself but I am sure all is well. Hang in there - it will be worth it! Xx

Hello,

I was also hospitalised with OHSS when I was 5-7 weeks pregnant with my twins back in July 2021. I was so fearful that the twins wouldn’t make it, but the doctors reassured me they would be okay as the OHSS is a separate thing all together. The hospital did scan me, and my clinic also closely monitored me after I was discharged from the hospital. Drink lots of water and rest up loads xxx

Poor you, OHSS is horrendous. Don't worry about the cramping, I had loads of it around 6-7 weeks and I'm now 20 weeks. It's normal for some people and is part of your body adapting to the growing baby. Just watch out for bleeding. I hope you feel better soon. X

I had mild OHSS too but wasn’t pregnant at the same time of having it. I was hospitalized and they provided a good care. I’m sure demanding a scan will put your worries at rest so go for it. I’m sure everything will be fine, just hang in there and yes drink plenty of fluids xx

I am so sorry the OHSS has got severe! I had a mild one after EC and it was awful. I hope you start feeling better soon! As for the cramping, I had period-like cramps throughout the first trimester, they stopped as soon as I stopped the progesterone. Hang in there and ask for a scan as suggested by others.
