total fertilisation failure with icsi

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven’t written anything for an year.I had an ivf 2021 long protocol care and 11eggs Collected and 8were mature.It was total fertilisation failure.So we went to crgh and did a short protocol and only 9eggs collected out of so many follicles and did ICSI and picsi and AOA and imsi My husband got high dna fragmentation.

Out of 9 eggs collected 2 fertilised and1 became blastocyst and got transferred and no pregnancy.

It was so disappointing and depressing.I was 35 years old in2021.

We went to test dna fragmentation with zymot and it got huge improvement and went to care to use zymote as crgh doesn’t have it.

I did ivf again in nov 2022 with short protocol and I had 16.3 amh .But it was low response with different drugs ovaleap and Menopur and cancelled cycle.I couldn’t understand why that happened.It was low dose compared to the first two cycles and different drugs.Scanning was only on day 6 and day 9 and only one blood test.I was not happy with that.

We did one more cycle with them to try zymote and used short protocol with Menopur 75iu and gonal F 262iu.average response on 7day scan with 4 follicle in right and 2 on left .10 th day scan surprisingly more follicle in left and no change in right.I got trigger that night and during egg collection only got eggs from left .

Got 5 mature eggs and ICSI AOA and zymote .Unfortunately total fertilisation failure again.Now Iam 37 and lost all hope.I don’t understand why why mature eggs with AOA fertilised?

I understand that I need monitoring every day during stims and work on egg quality.I am so depressed.Anyone got any advice?Please help

Hey, sorry to hear that. Sounds exactly like my situation. Have you tried oocyte activation to boost fertilisation? Has not helped us, but apparently it helps normally. Also have you tried tried normal IVF as opposed to ICSI (we got a bit better results during IVF)

Thank you so much for the message.

We have used oocyte activation on both ICSI cycles.First one give 2 embryos from9 mature eggs.

2nd ICSI cycle with oocyte activation failed on all 5 mature eggs.

Our first cycle was just normal ivf.It was total fertilisation failure.

I am not sure what is happening?I do think change of stimulation drugs will help.Let’s see

So sorry to read of your experience, mine has been similar with tff with ivf and icsi. It is so heartbreaking so I’m thinking of you. Have you read any of the research from the university in Gent in Belgium? There is a thread on them in the fertility friends forum with lots of good information. Best of luck and look after yourself at the moment, you’re not alone ♥️

Thank you so much for your message.

Yes.I have read few papers from Gwent research centres.I have read that they do lot of test for sperm to check fertilisation capacity for these types of cases.I don’t know how to get an appointment?I really want to do these test.Let’s see.

Some research articles should have clinician emails on them or google their names and you should find details I think
