Low fertilisation rate after ICSI - any experiences?

We have male factor infertility - now on our first round, and last week we had 12 eggs collected, 8 mature but only 3 fertilised after ICSI. Yesterday (Day 3), the embryologist told me all three were looking very good quality, but warned me that we might see a big change between day 3 and day 5 (Tuesday) when our transfer is planned. Has anyone else had a low fertilisation rate after ICSI, and if so did the embies fail to make blastocyst?? I'm worrying now!

It’s great that all 3 that fertilised are still looking very good!

We always had similar fertilisation numbers and we always had one or two make it to day 5 so try not to worry too much!

On our last round we had three looking good on day 3 and all of them made it day 5 so you never know!

Hi! I had ICSI, 12 eggs collected and 3 fertilised which was a huge shock! I still had all 3 on day 5 had 2 transferred and I got my first ever BFP after trying for 4 and half years and this was my 4th cycle. I am now nearly 15 weeks and still can’t believe it! Have faith in your 3! I had all but given up when I was given my fertilisation results and what looked like my worst cycle yet it just happened to turn out to be my best! Xxx

We got four eggs and only one fertilised with ICSI. We had a 2 day transfer so never even waited for a blastocyst. I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow!

And the net result was: one of our three made it to day 5! The dr said it's a very early blastocyst. Now on board, here's hoping!!!!

Congratulations on getting this far and good luck! I am 39 (today!) and had five mature eggs of which only two fertilised and I had similar concerns as you. They both did make it to day 5 but one hadn’t become blastocyst yet and was showing signs of degeneration. Wishing you luck xxx

I had zero fertilisation on my ICSI. Quite depressing. Though no male factor. I am the problem.

Try AOA on next cycle. DHEA for quality. If no male factor why ICSI? Urologist told hubby to ejaculate 24-28 hours before he produced sample for our isci. This was because damage can happen it the testes - oxidation. Just an idea
