Polyp removal results

Hi

I had 2 polyps removed on Tuesday privately and have to wait for the test results from the lab to come back before we can progress with our cycle.

I was just wondering if anyone had previously had this issue and how long their results took to come back.

I am not normally an impatient person but am getting anxious about the wait

Hello, I've had polyps removed. It probably depends on your clinic. And what their plan is. I found it varied even with Aberdeen. Once I ended up phoning them daily to ask because i was tired of waiting! I'd recommend getting in touch with your clinic to ask how long for peace of mind so you are not just waiting. They may want you to have one period in between the procedure and starting again (I think this was the case for me once). I do hope all is well. I have a bit of a history with polyps so happy to help with any other questions xx

Thank you for the info

hi there I had some polyps removed - I think also 2 under general anaesthetic under NHS. They also took a biopsy. I think it was a matter of weeks, maybe 2? It was very quick I thought, as they said I could go to ivf on my next period although the consultant advised I could wait for a normal period then go for it which I did. I think I had the removal in May and I went FET transfer in July. Hope that helps with timings.

Thank you for the info, it does help. I am hoping they will allow us to continue soon after the results come back as we have had a few set backs along the way. I just need to try and stop being so anxious. Thank you again.

Hello, I am just about to undertake this procedure too, what are people's experiences of the procedure? Did you all have it under general? Did you have any uncomfortable experiences with it? I am looking to get it done in the South of England and will prob go private but not sure yet.

hi, mine was done under deep sedation, so I didn’t feel anything but the recovery time was a lot quicker than with a GA. I had the procedure at 12 and was back home by 4.

Some bloating, bleeding and a few cramps but all manageable with paracetamol.

Mine was done privately, so waited about 2 weeks from the consultation for it to be done.

Hope this helps

Hi Winniebear1, I just found out yesterday through a saline scan that I have a small polyp which is quite upsetting, given that I was going to go for FET next month/cycle. Now they say it will a couple of months on the NHS waiting list, so thinking about doing it privately. I already do all IVF privately but manage to have GP refer for investigations for 2 failed FET and previous polyp which was removed in 2020 under NHS. Did you wait long for private? And if you don't mind me asking what was the cost? I'm expecting about £1k. I've emailed my consultant today. Will be 44 in two days, not the birthday surprise I was hoping for.
