Chromosome testing - how long for results?

Interested to know how long it has taken results to come back for this in your experience. My husband had a blood test 7 weeks ago and the clinic are still waiting for the results. Is this normal?? It seems an awfully long time.

It’s frustrating as we’re both very keen to get things in place ready for IVF and this is the only thing we’re now waiting on.

That seems excessive. Even my natural killer cells testing didn't have that long and it's one of the longer one to get results back. I'd badger them. Xx

Thanks for the reply. We’ve been chasing and were initially told 6-8 weeks. They seem hopeful we should know next week. I hope so. I feel we’re wasting precious time.

About 4 weeks for us when we did them privately, about 8 weeks when the NHS repeated them.

I’d phone and check in case a letter has been missed/lost in the post x

Thanks Kyell2. Yes we’re in touch with the clinic but no news yet. I’d have expected a clinic to be quicker than NHS!

I had the test at st Mary’s in Manchester and I had my results within 14 days.

Thanks Hailey. I’d have expected it to be pretty standard around the country. No idea why it’s taking so long for us!

We had to wait 7 months for ours.. It was the most frustrating time! They initially said 3 months but was 7 months before we had our next appt xo

My husband and I had these tests a couple of years ago and I think it took about 4 weeks for the results. If the laboratory has a backlog it could feasibly take longer, however after 7 weeks your clinic should probably be chasing the lab to find out.

Yes the clinic is chasing. Seems excessively long though. We just want to get things moving!

I had mine done end of May with a private clinic and it took 8 weeks.

My husband had it done the 18th of May, Result were ready after a lot of chasing 29th of July. My consultant said it took too long to be out ,that it’s usually 4weeks. It could depend on clinic as well who knows.....

It is indeed, We had the test done due to azoospermia to be able to have Surgical sperm retrieval.

Luckily when the results were out after a lot of calls and emails, we where given a date immediately for the retrieval. Instead of the usual 3months wait. I hope you hear from them soon.Xx
