ivf cycle abandoned

Hi, I’m 43 and have just had my 1st round of ivf abandoned due to follicles not growing with 375 Menopure. My AMH is 3.4mol/L. I wasnt expecting a miracle but wondered if anyone has any hope they’d like to share? 👀🙏🏻

Hi, my first cycle with menopure was abandoned as I only had one follicle and my clinic cancels it if there’s less than two. I went on another protocol and had a good response. So hang in there xx

thanks, when you say protocol, is that with different drugs or different format of treatment? I’m meeting with the doctor tomorrow so I’m trying to think of Qs I need to ask. Would you mind sharing your experience? No worries at all if you’d rather not 🙏🏻

Different drugs. They switched the menopure to Gonal F and upped the dose. Everything else remained the same I think. Good luck tomorrow!

The first cycle of treatment is like a learning curve - the doctors have seen how you responded and hopefully be able to suggest a few changes to your next cycle of treatment that will be beneficial

Good luck for the future

Sorry to hear this but treat this cycle like an investigation, now they know more about how your body responds so next time they tweak the hormones or put you on a different protocol. Do you know if you were on a long or short one. I also have low AMH, i had one follicle grow on the short protocol but when i moved to the long, i had 4 with 3 eggs retrieved. Best of luck, i hope your next cycle is more successful Xx

Thanks for responding that’s reassuring. I had 8 follicles last month when I had my ‘MOT’ so was quite disappointed to start the process like this. Best of luck to you 🍀❤️

Oh, that's really reassuring. You might have just started on a poor cycle. I'll keep fingers crossed for you. Xx

Hello! I was 43 and similar AMH to you when I had my egg collection cycles. I was on a different protocol to you, Meriofert and Fostimon with growth hormone and Melatonin (all the details in my profile), perhaps it is worth discussing using different stimulation drugs for your next round? I also took DHEA for three months prior to starting my EC cycles, all in a bid to increase egg quality and resilience! After two rounds of back to back egg collections we ended up with 2 PGT-A tested euploid embryos (16 mature eggs collected, 9 fertilised and 5 made it to good quality blastocysts). Wishing you the best of luck for your next round! X
