Progesterone and oestradiol levels before transfer - can they be too high?

Hi

Does anyone know what progesterone (nmol/L) and oestradiol (pmol/L) levels should be for a frozen transfer?

I've just had an ERA and had these measured that day to help inform for the real transfer, whenever that might be!

I know the progesterone in particular must not be too low.

Mine seemed quite high. Can it be too high?

Maybe one to discuss with my clinic but wondered if anyone has any insights.

Thanks all x

following as I have potentially just had a FET cancelled as my P was 13.3nmol/L the day before scheduled transfer. Nurse said cutoff was 15 but ideally they like to see it at 30 ish?

Hey skittles, my clinic likes to see progesterone between 60-100 nmol/l and oestradiol around 400-900 pmol/l.

Though I think - especially with progesterone - that there's no real consensus on these numbers. It seems a lot of clinics are of the opinion that there's no upper limit for progesterone and more is always better. This seems counterintuitive to me...hormones are very carefully regulated by our bodies so I find it hard to believe it's something as simple as "more is more", but this is just me guessing and not based on anything scientific! Plus, there are plenty of posts on here from women whose levels were over 100 on day of transfer and they went on to have healthy pregnancies. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Were your progesterone levels around this range? xx

I don't think progesterone can be too high for transfer, so I wouldn't worry too much. Obviously they want to keep it in some sort of a range as time goes on, but I think the upper limit can be over 500 and still be fine. Mine was over 400 at my latest transfer (which seems ridiculously high), but it still worked and my doctor was happy! My doctor likes it at least 150 for immune calming purposes. My levels did drop quite a bit after a week or two on progesterone, so it might be good to have some wiggle room.

Estradiol I believe 700 to 800 as close as possible is best at transfer (and rising steadily thereafter). Don't want it getting too high or low. I've been told too high can cause an immune response and inhibit implantation possibly. But too low can reduce bloodflow and cause problems too xx

I had mine done yesterday ahead of FET today. It was 39.4 which is “borderline” for my clinic. They prefer it over 40 but said usually clinics prefer over 30. They’re upping my dose and said as long as it’s upped within 48hrs of transfer should be ok. No idea whether there’s an upper limit but presume not!
