Hope everyone is doing ok.
Does anyone know if high progesterone on day of transfer will effect implantation?

Hi Lovely. Congratulations on your transfer! I once came across a paper saying some doctors didn't like progesterone to be crazy high (can't remember what that was! Was significantly over 100) but the vast majority of doctors and clinics seem to feel there's no downside to having it too high and that too low is the concern xx
Thank you so much for your reply 💞. Unfortunately OTD wasn’t the Christmas miracle so hoped for.
I had a hatching blast transferred.
My progesterone was 162 on the day of transfer, it’s never been so high. I’m cornered that it was too high for implantation xx
Ah sorry love, I thought you meant that you'd just had your transfer today 😢 That's so disappointing, I'm sorry. Have you asked the clinic if it was too high? Xx
Thanks lovely 💞. I can’t get my head around it … it’s not my first but it’s gets harder with each one as you know. I didn’t get the results of the progesterone until 3 days after I had it taken, I was so shocked it was so high. It’s played on my mind since the OTD , clinic is closed until tomorrow ,I know low isn’t good but then again I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too high. Just so confused Everything I read is conflicting xxx
When i had my transfer the doctors did not check my progesterone, is that a common practice to check the progesterone level after transfer?
I think it depends on the clinic, I’m over 40 so wanted it checked, just to be sure
In March it was 62 on day of transfer. It ended in a mmc.
This was our last DEFET xx
So sorry for your mmc, its horrible, I have been through that as well and i know your feeling. I am over 40 as well. Will definitely get them to check progesterone next time. What levels are normal/acceptable do you know?
hey, I was panicking after my transfer the level would not be high enough so pushed the clinic to test which they did the day after transfer and then got the results 147nmol/L and panicked for ages it was too high as I also read the paper mentioned above, however my clinic were not at all worried. I am now 16 and a half weeks.
Do you have the link by any chance for the paper? xx
I will see if I can find it but I think I came to the conclusion that it was not good science!
Think this was it:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
Or this:
rbej.biomedcentral.com/arti...
it is also worth with both looking at the exclusion criteria as it might be that you are in the exclusion group! I truly believe this is all a very individual process!!
Good luck!!
Thank you very much xx
no worries, my clinic were not at all worried . They seem good with latest literature as they talked me through data about borderline high tsh that was not in public. My concern was unwarranted as little one still implanted and had a heartbeat last week - sure it still does now too!
You can find lots on google that can send you into rabbit holes and sleepless nights, I was very good at this but it can’t change an outcome. Xx
I did sooo much research about progesterone levels at transfer (I was the opposite in that mine were incredible low - just 7). New research does suggest that there is an optimal level range and that too high can impact implantation just as too low can. Of course, there are always exceptions to this, but one paper I read suggested higher than 105 can cause issues.
The research that really is focusing on this is relatively new.
My clinic only tested me at day of transfer (even though I had low progesterone in previous transfer that resulted in a PUL at 6.5 weeks). I cannot understand why they wouldn’t test me (or anyone)before transfer. It seems not enough is really known about optimal levels and that many clinics either don’t bother testing or only bother once multiple failed implantations or losses have occurred.
My progesterone was ab 500( not kidding) first 2 weeks of pregnancy with twins and all went good .they are almost 2 years old now :)Good luck 🤞
Thank you. Congratulations on your twins
I know it does rise in early pregnancy, I think there should be an optimum level for implantation though.
I guess that’s why a lot of ladies have an ERA. I know low isn’t good, but similarly high must be the same?
I know it varies between clinics, some say over 30,40,50 etc. I think mine was too high, just trying to find out what too high for implantation xx
mine was way to high for those first 2 weeks for sure.I was scared as well but kept taking progesterone as Dr advised and all went good.
Sadly, our transfer of a hatching blast didn’t work xx
Im really sorry to hear that but please dont give up.take Era test if you think it might help
It was our last DE. Not sure where to go from here.
Clinc doesn’t think I need an ERA because I’ve had implantation previously.
I’ve had NK Cell biopsy which came back as low, they have also devised a new biopsy for recurrent mmc.. when they combined both results they said I didn’t need any treatment only as a precaution 20mg steroids a week after transfer.
Feeling a bit lost.
Thank you so much for your reply, means a lot xx
My progesterone was 167nmol/L the day before transfer. I was worried it was too high for implantation, but my FET was a success and I'm now 25 weeks pregnant. My clinic weren't concerned. I think levels can vary through the day, in my case I was on pessaries every day and a PIO shot on alternate days, and the blood test was the morning after a PIO shot so maybe my level was particularly high when it was tested.
Try a Naturopath in my opinion, will help a lot
Google please :Health nutrition concept-I would recommend Diana
Thank you so much for the recommendation. I’ll have a look at the info.
Xx
yes yes Blanch centre
162 is a lovely progesterone level! I wouldn’t worry until it goes into the high hundreds. Progesterone is essential for implantation & it’s much worse for it to be low than high x
