excessive bleeding when taking oestrogen (zumenon) ???

As a bit of background, I have started on oestrogen over a week ago for a trail month for an ERA after multiple fails transfers and rounds. My cycle started on the 8th on jan so I stared on zumenon that’s day, my period was going normal up untill day 4 (Wednesday). I would usually start to be coming off then but it got worse and worse. Without too much detail I wasn’t getting 45 mins out of doubling up on sanitary items. I went back to the clinic who said they don’t think it’s is related to the treatment and gave me tranexamic acid to slow the bleed. This did nothing and got worse and worse. By Saturday I was feeling dizzy and weak so my husband made me go to a&e, when they tested my blood they said it haemoglobin was dangerously low and kept me in, put me on an IV and was close to giving me a transfusion. The gynaecologist consultant at the hospital was adamant that it was the oestrogen that was causing it.

The bleeding has now subsided but It’s left me extremely anemic.

My question is has anyone else experienced something similar, as I am back at the clinic this morning and I feel like I’m being passed back and forth! I also don’t want to pay all this money for an ERA test if I’m not going to get conclusive results. 😭

Hi Kgee. Sorry to hear you have suffered so much. It could have been the oestrogen. However, I feel you need to get the anaemia sorted out first as you could easily bleed again. Hope all is soon sorted for you. Diane

hi, it came back that I was pre receptive. I needed 24 hours extra progesterone. The next transfer with the altered protocol sadly failed but I think in reality that was due to the embryo . The next transfer after was successful, 5th transfer all in all. I really think the ERA made all the difference in my case! Thank you so much I still can’t believe it and we are very early so not getting too carried away 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 good luck with where your up to in your journey ❤️❤️

Thank you for your reply, I did an ERA test and it came back post receptive, I needed to do the transfer 24 hours earlier, it was the first time ever I had a positive beta of 191 in day 12dp5dt, but unfortunately second beta decreased and I misscaried, I have one embryo left and I don't know if I should just do the fet or redo the test, but at least you gave me hope that maybe it was just bad luck as the embryo looked good blastocyst quality.

I’m so sorry to hear that 🥺💔. The way I tried to look at it was that was my first ever transfer (it doesn’t feel that way after so much heartache I know) but to get a positive shows implantation took place. And like mine, if you haven’t had the embryos tested it was more than likely an abnormality with the embryo. The only thing I changed from the successful one to the previous was the addition of embryo glue, but who knows.
