Progesterone testing

Hi everyone

I have just started our 3 fresh cycle and have had 3 failed transfers.

I’ve noticed a few people mention they have had their progesterone levels checked as this can affect implantation, is that correct?

I’ve always just had the pessaries to take 3 times per day, has anyone needed more than this?

I’m not sure if mine have been check on any of my previous cycles, they could of been and I just don’t remember!!

Anyone else just started down reg? Xx

I asked my clinic about testing progesterone levels this week as I’m getting ready for our 5th transfer after 3 fails. They said they used to test but when they audited it they found it made no difference, some ladies had high progesterone and didn’t get pregnant, other ladies had low progesterone and got pregnant xx

Ah really? Have you always just had the 3 pessaries a day too? Sorry to hear about your fails, hopefully this is your time! 🤞 xx

Hi, I’m not sure how reliable progesterone testing is. But, like you, I was worried about it. I asked my clinic to prescribe Lubion injections this cycle. My thinking is that too much can’t do any harm and it may actually help so I thought why no try it. It’s quite expensive but my clinic has managed to get it direct from the manufacturer so it works out slightly cheaper x

That’s good to know, think I’ll have a chat when I go for my scan on the 22nd. So if you have too much can it do no harm? Xx

As far as I know, too much doesn’t do any harm x

Yes mine tested on transfer day, and believes it's important. If you have low levels they'll prescribe you the injections as well as the pessaries.

Same with my clinic. They don't like it to drop below 100

I’ve only had problems with low progesterone levels on a FET. With a fresh then all the follicles when the eggs are collected release progesterone so I think it’s uncommon for levels to be low. On a medicated FET where your body is not producing it’s own and you’re reliant on the meds then for me pessaries weren’t enough. I take prontogest as well which is a horrible intramuscular injection but very effective xx
