hi all, I decided to start DHEA before our next IVF/ICSI due to male factor. I have normal ovulation and cycle, this month I noticed I did not have a peak ovulation day. LH was positive for a day and that’s it. My question is, coulld it be the DHEA and all the anti-oxidants I am taking from “It Starts with the Egg” that potentially messed up my cycle?

DHEA supplements - do they affect ovulation?
Hi, I certainly noticed that my cycle length changed (went from 28 days to 30 days) after a couple of months of taking all the supplements from ISWTE so yes I’d say supplements can affect ovulation times & cycle lengths. Luckily I don’t think they stop ovulation or anything, at least that hasn’t been my experience.
Hi, I think a few day variation in cycle length is normal. I have gone through stages of taking supplements like ubiquinol, DHEA and methyl folate along with other recommended supplements at the same time over months and even over a year. At the time I measured LH peaks and cylce length and there was no significant variations (more than 2-3 days). I always got an LH peak but this can be easily missed depending on what you measure with. The most reliable method I used was Clearblue digital, (the purple ones) that measure an increase in oestrogen before the LH surge - this is very helpful as the LH surge can happen suddenly and if you miss a measurement you can miss the surge altogether. I only took DHEA over a period of 4 months approximately as I wasn't sure it would be safe to take for long periods. The only thing I remarked was that my period was significantly lighter while taking DHEA. This could be down to the hormone or due to my age or a combination of both. That's my experience anyway. I wish you luck on your journey.
